soooo. Doesn't make the premise of the project any less unnecessary? McKay is capable - Anchorman 2 s----d. Spielberg is capable - Indy 4 s----d. etc.

Anyway, my dear friends... I wrote this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/andy-hoglund-/what-to-do-with-rene-russo_b_6761530.html

    Please enjoy. @Twan @Bleed

Are people expecting Blade Runner 2? I'd be interested in the rationale is in continuing this story (beyond the obvious financial considerations)

Bad sequels with noteworthy directors are easy to come by, though, please: Godfather 3, Aliens 3, the Mission:Impossibles, some *gasp* might even say Color of Money (not me, but many)

As far as I'm concerned, from what i've seen at least,
    (I saw Incendies in 2012
    Prisoners in 13
    Enemy couple months ago finally)

    he is 3 for 3

@captain awesome, we really gonna talk about Alien 3? Not really gonna blame Fincher for that one

Haha, fair. tbh I didn't see Enemy but Prisoners was too mean-spirited and ugly for my taste. I don't doubt he's talented, but I'd prefer he tackle original stories, but cooping Ridley Scott's universe.

kinda agree. Thought it was cool, but Enemy is way better. you should see it eventually.

Yeah I think Prisoners might be darker than Incendies. Haven't seen them both in awhile now.

I really enjoyed Prisoners, but I'm in agreement that it's a bit too brutal. Not a movie I feel like I could watch again any time soon.

Besides Witness/Mosquito Coast, not sure I agree. Great movie star, sure... but pretty limited range and increasingly difficult to work with/old

I've started watching movies regularly again. I've watched 25 movies this month, 8 of them being documentaries.
Banksy Does New York (Chris Moukarbel, 2014) 4.5/10
One Rogue Reporter (Tom Jenkinson, Rich Peppiatt, 2014) 6.5/10
Elaine Stritch: s---t Me (Chiemi Karasawa, 2014) 7.5/10
I Am Santa Claus (Tommy Avallone, 2014) 5.5/10
The Guest (Adam Wingard, 2014) 8/10
Stonehearst Asylum (Brad Anderson, 2014) 6/10
Listen Up Philip (Alex Ross Perry, 2014) 5.5 I love Jason Schwartzman and Elisabeth Moss a lot and I was really excited for this but the narration used in this, I don't if it has a specific name, but I really hate these type of narration. It just puts me off. And I blame Amelie for this.
Panic Room (David Fincher, 2002) 6.5/10 Now the only Fincher movie I haven't seen is Alien 3. Maybe I should a Alien marathon, or something. I haven't watched Aliens either.
St. Vincent (Theodore Melfi, 2014) 6/10 It has Bill Murray in it, so by definition, it should be better than most movies. Too bad that the movie is cliche-ridden.
The Humbling (Barry Levinson, 2014) 5/10
    '71 (Yann Demange, 2014) 8/10
Mavi Dalga/The Blue Wave (Zeynep Dadak, Merve Kayan, 2013) 5.5/10
The Notorious Mr. Bout (Tony Gerber, Maxim Pozdorovkin) 3/10 This was really uninteresting. I shouldn't have even finished it.
Clouds of Sils Maria (Olivier Assayas,2014) 6.5/10
The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman (Fredrik Bond, 2014) 7.5/10 They shouldn't have shortened the title to just "Charlie Countryman". The original title is much more intriguing. Mads Mikkelsen is f---ing amazing in this. Steals every scene he is in. The soundtrack is something I might listen to. The first 30 minutes are kind of boring, though. It picks up after that. It's a bit messy but I enjoyed it.
Concerning Violence (Göran Olsson, 2014) 6/10 This was pretty illuminating, actually, but I don't like academic and this is too academic for my taste.
Mapa (León Siminiani, 2012) 2/10 This is a personal, diary movie. And it is a boring, too long, and pretty f---ing repetitive movie. I think this type of movies has a real potential. Hopefully there is someone out there who can realize that potential. Not this guy, though.

    And this week:
    Selma (Ava DuVernay, 2014) 7.5/10
The Lord of the Rings trilogy (Peter Jackson, rewatch)
Birdman (Alejandro González Iñárritu, 2014) 9/10
    Whiplash (Damien Chazelle, 2014) 8.5/10

The !f Film Festival has begun yesterday: The high points are The Look of Silence, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya. Last Year we had Under the Skin, The Double and The Wind Rises. Plus Borgman was the surprise find for me. And The Square and Böcek (Ladybug) was really, really good. This year doesn't look that much interesting, if I'm to be honest. Also I was late and couldn't get a ticket for The Look of Silence and A Girl Walks... so I'm shut out of the two of the biggest movies of the event. Anyways, this is the plan:

    February, 28th
Stories of Our Lives (Jim Chuchu, 2014, Kenya)
Regarding Susan Sontag (Nancy D. Kates, 2014, USA)
The Yes Men Are Revolting (Andy Bichlbaum, Mike Bonanno, Laura Nix, 2015, USA)

    March, 1st
The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness (Mami Sunada, 2013, Japan)
Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter (David Zellner, 2015, USA)
The Dark Horse (James Napier Robertson, 2014, New Zealand)
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (Isao Takahata, 2013, Japan)

The last is pretty great. The only movie missing is The Look of Silence. Maybe I get lucky that day.

The first two days are behind now. I've seen 3 movies.
The Man in the Orange Jacket (Aik Karapetian, 2015, Latvia) 7/10 This is the first ever Latvian horror movie. It's only 70 minutes and it dives right in. It's pretty atmospheric. The colors, the music, the sound design and everything works really well together. The performances could've been better but it's not that big of a problem. It is not heavy in dialogue and the first half is much better than the second half but overall this was a pretty thrilling experience.

The Tribe (Miroslav Slaboshpitsky, 2014, Ukraine) 8/10 I'm sure you guys heard about this one. The whole movie is in Ukrainian sign language. The plot is not hard to understand but of course, me being ignorant in any type of sign language didn't really help understand anything these characters said to each other. The camerawork was pretty amazing and the average shot length, and I'm guessing here, is around 3-4 minutes, so you could keep guessing what the characters are arguing about. Couple of great tracking shots, couple of unforgettable sequences. It's bleak, nothing good happens in this. Some people say that this is the Ukrainian The Clockwork Orange. Make of that what you will but definitely not something you want to miss.

The Princess of France (Matías Piñeiro, 2015, Argentina) 2/10 This was the worst thing I've watched this month. It's 67 minutes long and I thought about leaving twice and sleeping once. I saw it to the end because I paid for this s---. I would turn this off in about 15 minutes otherwise.
