I really, really dug It Follows. Would be really interested in hearing what our resident horror expert @Pinhead thinks of this one. It evokes John Carpenter not only in its throwback synth score, but also in its emphasis on mood and atmosphere and its detailed widescreen compositions. While his film does have a handful of more overt scares, director David Robert Mitchell realizes that the most haunting imagery can be conjured by simply embedding the incongruent within the mundane.

Awesome. Easily one of my most anticipated films of the year. Seems to be one of the rare genre flicks that can appeal to horror fans while being a solid crowd-pleaser at the same time. And I can already tell that the Disasterpeace score is going to go down as one of my favorites of 2015. Have had it on repeat for a few weeks now.

Hope it gets some sort of VOD release soon.

Christian Petzold & Nina Hoss did it again, Phoenix is impeccable. The ending is one of the most expertly crafted and effective I've seen in a long long time, such a powerful film.

I actually don't think it's gotten a proper theatrical release in the US yet, I caught it at a film festival and I think there was one screening in New York but that's about it. Hopefully it'll get a theatrical run soon so everybody gets a chance to see it, it's really special.

    Can't wait for this!

I watched Riley Stearns' Faults recently and liked it for the most part. With that said, I felt like the film had more potential and that the dynamic between Leland Orser's and Mary Elizabeth Winstead's characters could have been explored further. The film did remind me Winstead is pretty awesome and should be in more movies, at least more movies I'd watch.

Also saw Maps to the Stars and was slightly disappointed. Half pitch black, acidic Hollywood satire and half I don't know WTF. Much of its jabs at celebrity and Hollywood are funny, if somewhat obvious, but the rest of the time, I was just staring at the screen confused. This one simply went over my head. :emoji_neutral_face:

Yeah, pretty bs, imo. I wasn't huge on it winning Best Picture, but Keaton >> Redmayne no doubt.
