Absolutely, I just mean that I'm not going to care about films I don't like just because of their reputations.

? Universally known as one of the worst Best Picture winners ever. Literally any other film in 76 shouldve won. i dont like your tone or characterization of me in this thread

Birdman's well acted (though most prestige movies are), features a nifty, albeit attention-starved gimmick, and works mostly as an amalgamation of artistic concerns in today's pop culture as well as an industry satire. However, while it touches on a lot, it explores precious little and Inarritu's smugness bleeds through the screen.

For the record, I actively dislike Foxcatcher...funereal slog towards the inevitable, hitting upon obvious psychological and metaphorical points along the way (It's about America!). Capote is pretty cool I guess.

i just think thats baseless.... and it still hasnt been backed up whatsoever...

i generally think a few examples aside, most of you guys are uncritical geeks with childish taste. talk about overrating conventional film criticism, you guys are praising wes anderson ffs

Moneyball? and Hoffman in Capote man.. rip :emoji_slight_frown:

I definitely enjoyed Foxcatcher more as it was unfolding than after leaving the theater.

re: birdman though...idk man some of that smugness is part of the appeal for me. dont know if im conveying what i mean though...it is centered around man @ very self-serious point of his life
