Definitely let us know what's good with The Revenant, since we peasants must wait until Christmas.

Carol is out in NYC tomorrow, but I promised someone I'd wait until next week to see it. #Hero

NPR First Listen of the record. It's top notch and the tin bit of the story in the article makes the doc sound great.

Variety reports that subscription based streaming platform MUBI has nabbed exclusive streaming rights for Paul Thomas Anderson's new 54-minute documentary Junun, and it will be available to watch following the film's bow at New York Film Festival on October 8th. For those who don't know, MUBI functions sort of as an online movie theatre, where 30 films are available to stream at one time, with one dropping off and another replacing it each day.

Anybody catch it? Had no clue it was available online.

@Twan what do you think of the Midnight Special trailer?

Btw, I got my hands on Cemetery of Splendour, needless to say it's a masterpiece, though it's not quite on the level of Tropical Malady, Uncle Boonmee or Syndromes and a Century for me as of yet. Of course I'll need to let it sit and watch it more but surely it's a fitting addition to Weerasethakul's remarkable filmography.

Special effects look kind of questionable, but looks interesting overall. Given how much I love Take Shelter, I'll always give Nichols a chance, even though I'm not a big fan of Mud or Shotgun Stories.

actually I wrote a little something too... @Charlie Strangelove

80/100 - Anderson's direction is singular and subtly thematic in what seems to be a significant moment in contemporary music and culture. At times, the dynamic hand-camera makes one feel present; at other times, it loses perspective and displays amateur control, ridding the continuity of presence. 5 Stars for the bird feeding sequence and all but one song (guess which).

I don't know if I'd say it's great, but it's cute as f---...a really well done and well performed melodrama.

d--- I wish I had a theater around that played limited release films, how was the actor who plays Tony? I remember seeing him in Places Beyond The Pines and thought he was pretty good in that.

I actually didn't like him that much in Place Beyond the Pines, but he's good here...does a good Brooklyn Italian accent without going overboard with it.

I wasn't a fan, but others here did like it.

Gosling definitely has an eye for striking visuals, but the movie overall feels haphazardly stitched together. Its self-conscious weirdness only partially masks what's a thin, often silly, noir story. I think Gosling has talent behind the camera, but perhaps next time he should direct someone else's script.

yeah I can definitely see where you're coming from, the story wasn't really there much, I think I forgave that due to how beautiful the cinematography was. I would definitely love to see what Gosling could do with a better script.
