Ah, well if it was made in the 50s then the females are weak/hapless slaves who rely on men to survive.
I haven't seen it, but I can't imagine it would be hard to find examples like that.

Now I understand how horror fans of the 70's and 80's feel when their classics get remade. What a f---ing joke.

Blumhouse would remake the Zabruder film if they thought teenagers would go see it on dates. This thing is going straight to Netflix. RT 23%

Pretty sure Blumhouse only pushes films that cost $5 to make so it will certainly make it's money back no matter what. Worst case scenario is that they franchise it like [Rec] lmao.

Yeah, Blumhouse has been making bank over the last few years. Got 40+ million for The Gallows on a 100k budget. Ridiculous.

      Creed 2015
      ★★★★½ Watched 01 Dec, 2015

An emotive tour de force only rivaled in quality by the original ROCKY. Cinematographically superior and topically relevant. Some incredible moments including the slow motion run surrounded by motorcylists, the steadicam long takes of entering the new gym and of the first fight, and the aerial circling of the final bouts shot for shot. Nas and Tupac mixed into the lot for added flavour.

      87/100 - Excellent.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 2015
      ★★★½ Watched 01 Dec, 2015

Society of the spectacle social critique of CATCHING FIRE and action orientation of the ORIGINAL come together at last for a captivating showdown between rebels and the regime.

      76/100 - Very Good.

      Paranoid Park 2007
      ★★★★ Watched 30 Nov, 2015

A fragmented narrative idiosyncratically expressive of the anxious, restless psychology on display.

      83/100 - Great.

      Pixels 2015
      ★½ Watched 29 Nov, 2015

Utterly contrived towards meaningless ends with its only redeeming feature the novelty of playing real life video games.

      42/100 - Bad.

      Queen of Earth 2015
      ★★★★½ Watched 29 Nov, 2015

Sharp dissociative drama with fluid transitions and an ethereal sense of time, sense, and perception.

      88/100 - Excellent.

      Hour of the Wolf 1968
      ★★★★½ Watched 28 Nov, 2015

Striking high contrast black & white cinematography some of Nyqvist's best, but certain genre elements quite tacky.

      87/100 - Excellent.

      James White 2015
      ★★★★ Watched 28 Nov, 2015

A deeply felt & well portrayed drama where character development is eschewed for honest articulation of unchanging turbulence.

      82/100 - Great.

I started a new twitter where I pair a movie with a drink.
    https://twitter.com/MovieDrinkPair

I also wrote a piece on the film cut and mental anxiety: http://aestheticsofthemind.com/2015/12/02/the-film-cut-and-mental-anxiety/

And will be writing one on the long take and mindfulness later.
