Revenant is a good b movie, beautifully shot... but when it tries ruminating on human nature or whatever, i wasn't sold

    hardy was good tho

what the f--- was that ending and why
does he have leo look directly at the camera lol. felt completely unearned (which sucks since ud think whatever they try to do after a 2.5 hour movie would feel earned at the very least)

These echo the reactions I've seen so far...kind of lukewarm given the hype

well then you'll love it. the action sequences had so much life in them due to his use of continuous shots (more restrained this time vs. birdman obviously lmao) and ability to track a gripping series of events. you were definitely watching this movie eager to go from one jaw-dropping shot/sequence to the next, rather than say the story itself or the acting.

lol why has that dumb s--- been all over my facbeook recently? no there was no bear r--- :'( although the bear did grind up quite close to mr. dicaprio at certain points :ohno:

Dogville is a hard 5/5. Lars von Trier is an absolute madman.

Having seen his Depression Trilogy, I'm definitely excited to catch up on this one. Given your thoughts on Korine, I'm really surprised you liked it tbh.

rly, i think there's a world of difference between von trier and korine as filmmakers.

i will say, i think dogville was one of the first r rated movies i saw in theaters so im oddly sentimental about it hah

They're equally polarizing and all of the broad criticisms you levied against Korine are ones I could see people putting to Trier, though I guess being European draws the right crowd to him. Both are quite exploitative and cruel.

no need to to repeat old arguments, but i think korine is a hack. i think the difference between him and a true auteur like von trier is the same one between for instance, pac and x number of faux pacs who dominated pop after his death. thats not an exact comparison but you get my point

    no?

@Charlie Strangelove you just watched Gummo, I don't mean to insult you but... how do you know he's an auteur?
