Hearing a lot about Thauvin, I hear he's good but has a bit of an attitude... saying that we did sign Mitrovic I don't mind Cabella but we could do with some improvements.

Holy s--- that was bad, Chelsea's ball circulation was so slow today. Unlike City they failed to stretch the field out with their wide players, both of Chelsea's fullbacks were pinned by Navas & Sterling so that meant Hazard & Ramires/Willian were always isolated...Good subs by Pellegrini too bringing in Demichelis to lock down the defense and Nasri for another player that moves between the lines & creates like Silva meant they were closing out the game well...It's still very early but it's an unusually bad start for a team coached by Mou.

I'm wondering if he's been figured out. Before the 1st goal, City had like 5 opportunities and Chelsea was stuck way back with no way to threaten or even hold the ball. I'm not used to this.

His team's shape was weird now that I look back at the game. It's clear he wanted to put in his more industrious players to cover space and deny City to build-up and retain possession but it sacrificed a lot as far as when they attacked. Also City were very well-prepared for those fast transitions that Mou likes to take advantage; I saw in a couple instances City's defense held a high line and Fernandinho-Toure-Silva were relatively compact.

I'd say it was more of a bad day for Chelsea but they need more complete games from guys like Fabregas & Willian, not good enough today.
