May 10, 2015 Half of German national football team isn't even German. lel Soccer of course for me, been playing it since I was 8.
May 10, 2015 Shhhh.. Podolski and Klose They were born in Poland as far as I know.. Im only messing with you bro
May 10, 2015 lol ^ this is exactly what i was talking about. Vintage Euro take on American Football. You can sense the hatred...
May 10, 2015 yeah, but they lived in Germany for their whole lives. Klose tha goat.. shouldnt have retired from the national team I know that ur just joking
May 10, 2015 Uh, I don't hate and watch college football here and there if it's on. Are those things not true tho? Yes I over simplified them just like he did by saying "kick a ball around on an oversized field"
May 10, 2015 @VMO2 I like watching Bundesliga matches, I used to be big into Borussia Dortmund.. I have family over in Germany.
May 10, 2015 they're not as good as they used to be though. kinda sad that the bundesliga has only one team that dominates the league
May 10, 2015 Alright Guess I imagined the time-outs and "media break". You're right tho, a game isn't 3 hours long. It's 4x15 mins. If it's not the time-outs, random media breaks and plays lasting much longer than a minute () then I wonder where the other 2 hours come from
May 10, 2015 not so much in cl tho :;'(: but bayern has too much power and money to lose its dominating role..
May 10, 2015 Its not a continuous clock like soccer if a ball goes out of bounds in soccer the game stops for varying amounts of time, longer if its a goal kick but the clock still runs. In football the clock stops, when a player runs out of bounds(in the later part of quarters) and with incomplete passes, scores etc... I mean saying a football game never goes on for longer then a minute just simply isnt true, and if you are really watching college football then you would probably know this. I guess you've never seen teams go on long drives running the ball down the other teams throat, with the clock rolling. You are clearly going overboard with the TO's and other breaks, they are mostly after scores and during the end of quarters/half. You may have a point that there are too many commercials or w/e but you're a lil over the top.
May 10, 2015 Watch the NFL redzone and you won't see a break for 7 hours, it's amazing tbh. Anyways we get this thread at least once a year. I certainly prefer american football (hate even calling it that) but soccer's alright too, I usually watch the world cup.
May 10, 2015 i can't stand to watch one minute of soccer. soccer and lacrosse are just two sports i have always hated a lot
May 10, 2015 When a ball goes out in soccer it takes liked 5-10 sec max before the game continues again due to having kids at the side who'll throw you a new ball. Goal kicks take a lil bit longer depending on the goal keeper but even if he takes too long he gets warned. If anything (faking) injuries take up more time, which gets added back at the end of a half (on average I'd say one half gets about 2-3 minutes added time). I don't watch college football a lot, a couple of games a season but I don't hate it. It just can't hold my attention for very long due to the commercial breaks and stopping to switch defense/offense teams and all the other little things. Some plays do go over a minute, just not as often. I'm not saying it doesn't happen at all. Like I said before tho, I admit to simplifying it in response to @red rum's post. I don't know enough about football to go into details and technicalities. This is just how it looks from seeing a bunch of games from my POV as a stranger to that game.
May 10, 2015 Mano I don't really follow college much but I do know their football games go on longer than the NFL simply because they stop the clock every time there's a 1st down and they don't do that in the NFL. I think they also have more breaks but not positive, so yeah their games typically go closer to 3 and a half or even 4 hours while the NFL is usually right around 3. He's right that plays don't go over a minute though, I'd say they very rarely even go over 10 seconds unless it's a play that goes for a lot of yards.
