Mar 8, 2017 Future was recently in London for the launch of Reebok’s Zoku Runner shoe, a sneaker of which he is the ambassador. Future’s love of high-end fashion — he’s often spotted in the likes of Haider Ackermann — means that he’s not a natural fit for the brand, but it was clear from the event that there’s more than enough crossover between those who are fans of Reebok and fans of Future. We were allotted a brief amount of time with the rapper while he was flying back to New York and we spoke to him while he was wrapped up in a luxury duvet. Future wasn’t the most talkative interviewee we’ve ever spoken to, but we still managed to discuss his love for Reebok, his favorite songs from FUTURE and HNDRXX, and his plans for Coachella. How long have you been into Reebok? For a long time, since I was a kid. Was it strictly a part of your life growing up? Yeah, because Reebok was one of those shoes your mom could afford. What’s the connection between Future and HNDRXX? The connection is me doing one complete project. I feel like one is more melodic and one is personal, but both of them is me, all of me. [I liked] being able to give the fans two separate things to think about. Why release them so closely together? To just complete the thought. Are you experimenting with the way you release the music? It’s just experience, just being able to be creative in the way you release music. I feel like it was a dope way to release music. How come? Because everybody is always dropping [the same way], they always announce the album. But to be able to drop a surprise project, and not just only one but two albums but then the way I released it, the way the visuals [came together], the collaborations and everything else just made the project what it is. How long were you working on the albums, was it constant since the last one? Yeah, since the last one. I always constantly work on music but to be able to be that versatile throughout a whole project you have to make a whole lot of music. Who are some of your favorite new producers? So many to name, I don’t have just one. Are there any plans for any more joint projects like the one with Gucci Mane? Not right now. With the whole Future hive meme thing, do you like the fact that the fans are so behind you? Yeah it’s unconditional support. It’s unconditional support system that I drive off of, that inspires me to be the artist that I am today. How did you feel about the Meryl Streep meme? Who? Meryl Streep, the actress. Nah, I never heard of it. Never heard of it? Nah. What are your favorite songs from the recent projects? From the Future project, probably “Mask Off”, then “Feds Did A Sweep.” On the HNDRXX project, it’s “Coming Out Strong,” “Selfish,” “New Illuminati” and “Solo.” I love “Solo.” And some other new rappers that you like? A ton of rappers, there’s a ton of them. Plans for the future? The runner, focusing on the tour. When does the tour start? The tour start May 4 and then I have to think about Coachella also. Do you have something crazy and big planned for Coachella? Yeah, I want to do something big for the stage, for my dress and style, everything. https://hypebeast.com/2017/3/future-interview-reebok-future-hendrxx-albums
