Jun 15, 2015 If Stannis had to die why is Ramsey, who cuts off peoples d----s and tortures them still alive. I think he's worse. Why Jon Snow? The most likeable character dead. How would he survive being stabbed repeatedly?? I don't expect all the bad people to die and all the good people to prevail but it's reaching a little too much at this point.
Jun 15, 2015 Spoiler: Potential spoilers for Season 6 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/...ad_n_7557158.html?ncid=tweetlnkushpmg00000067 I remember reading about this when I got spoiled that Jon Snow died. Seems legit though that he's not actually dead with what's being said at the bottom of the post.
Jun 15, 2015 I think they deliberately didn't show Stannis' death to make us think he survived. Then they emphasized Jon Snow's death to make us think he's gone. Bait and switch. Because it's Game of Thrones. Being good or bad doesn't mean you survive. Nobody wins. This isn't a comic book. It makes the moments where the people we like prevail that much more powerful. There's actual tension.
Jun 15, 2015 The thing with Stannis is that he's a smart commander. He learned a lot from Blackwater. In the books, he's more careful about how he approaches Winterfell, plus certain things start going his way like teaming up with the Mountain clans and Jon sending him the Iron Bank representative as well as warning him about a traitor in his camp. He also didn't burn his daughter in the books (or at least hasn't yet). They just really f----- up a great character. And as far as Jon is concerned, back in Season 3, Melisandre met with Thoros and Beric from the Brotherhood Without Banners. Thoros is the red priest who constantly resurrects Beric after he dies. She didn't think it was possible until she saw Beric in person. That didn't happen in the books so it has to have a big significance in the show.
Jun 15, 2015 I realize that...just frustrating as a viewer. I would probably assume Stannis is still somehow alive over Jon Snow. You were saying where does Stannis go after killing his daughter. I don't know, where does Ramsey go after chopping off d----s and raping people. They k--- them off for the shock factor but it's getting old
Jun 15, 2015 Basically this, I think they're kinda doing a good job as far as the broad strokes go (even tho how they get there might be convoluted at times) Jon snow dying was one of the most poetic moments on the show to date...Sam also initially set him to die when he nominated him and now got to leave and theoretically have a family life while Jon was left alone to defend his morals Cersi's walk was pretty crazy too. But stannis's realization that he "sold his soul" for nothing...just blood magic. No higher force, no predestined kings and rulers. Just people doing their duty, just like he thought he was (and he's a dumbass for doing so -- in my opinion that is, I've always despised the idea of duty lol) I wish even more developed on Arya's end this season but that k--- scene was so f---ing good. Chills Could've used less daenerys tbh
Jun 15, 2015 This is just not correct lol. If you want a show without actual drama then go watch basic cable. It's nothing like, say, Walking Dead where they regularly introduce characters you don't care about for fodder. Even the wildling female alive for the Walker invasion had a small arch and served a purpose.
Jun 15, 2015 lol relax it's just my point of view. We can agree to disagree. I think it's idiotic. The show is trying to do too much with not enough time. We didn't even see Bran this season but we get a glimpse of super mountain. It actually is very much like a comic tbh. No idea where your basic cable argument comes into lol
Jun 15, 2015 I think its only now driving home the point tbh..which is crazy because things like the red wedding etc have happened, I know But you have more perspective now -- the scope of the white walkers approaching, the need for a character like daenerys to fill the void that stannis, Jon snow, etc are leaving And obviously the overall sense that there's no inherent moral compass..that nature is going to run its course regardless of our human implications of right and wrong etc. I'm sure Ramsey will get his -- its just taking longer than we want because life isn't fair lol. Cersi got what she was owed, and more it seemed, but now she's in the arms of frankstein mountain and we know she's going to have her day (which she doesn't really deserve) Jon snow just seemed fated for so much more, but so did so many men and women before him. No ones talking about poor jamie lannisters daughter dying I wonder how long her widowed husband will last on that boat, or when they reach land... And again, the white walkers..everyone's f----- I just want my n----- Jon snow around
Jun 15, 2015 You really think adding in Brann's storyline would've been a good idea? If anything, I'm glad they left it in the background. Wish they would have taken some notes and did the same with Danny. My "basic cable argument" is that you're upset that the show subverts all of your expectations about the good guys being immortal and good triumphing evil. The show has tons of flaws, but I don't think it's fair to label that one of them. Especially when that's established in the first season. You knew what you were in for.
Jun 15, 2015 If u mean sad because Jon snow died then obviously... I was about to break s--- as it was happening Disappointed implies let down..I thought the episode was great
Jun 15, 2015 Exactly. I was basically pulling my hair out during Gone Girl but not because the movie failed to please me. The fact that it succeeded in pissing me off was admirable. Showed just how much it made me care.
Jun 15, 2015 lol you need to re-read my posts...I already said I don't expect the "good guys" to triumph and for everything to fall in place as it should like 5 posts above lol. The show has made a name for itself killing off the popular characters which was edgy at first but pretty stale at this stage imo. Brans storyline missing didn't really bother me it's just they're trying to do too much with too little time. 10 episodes for the amount of plots they have is ridiculous
Jun 15, 2015 The SFX this episode had me cringing irl Like when arya stabs dude in the stomach, or slowly cuts his throat. And then for every. Single. For the watch. Stab. To. My. n-----. Jon. Snow. . So visceral. parts of the cersi walk could've been done better I thought but i was also just so in shock the whole time that it didn't really bother me. I was happy stannis got killed, what a drone tbh. His daughter was so goat, I'm genuinely still upset they killed her (burned her alive*) I get what @Worm is saying in general but a lot of this episode was great to me because the deaths felt like they were coming almost, or if that isn't the right way to phrase it, then I mean each one felt visceral in some way. Ramsey's c---- being killed by his b----, stannis by the hand to his brother, Jon by the watch he was worried he betrayed (while always trying to protect), daughter after giving father acceptance he always wanted, and Arya's first name on her list Idk worm I thought this ep nailed it in a lot of ways (don't care for the scene with daenerys and her dragon and whoever those Cowboys were)
Jun 15, 2015 now you have @Narsh all worked up.. just feels like whenever they get a good storyline going they don't know where to go with it so they just k--- the popular character. They leave the hated character so you keep watching and hoping he/she dies. The same formula over and over gets bland for me at least.
Jun 15, 2015 I don't know why you look at it from that POV. Maybe for a normal tv show but his HBO, and this is based of source mateiral. I guess I'm giving the show more credit than you are and im not even a big fan lol
