Fairly certain it was gonna be cyborg Raiden the whole way through. All of the gameplay we saw of it was of cyborg Raiden and changing the controls/gameplay mechanics part way through wouldn't have made much sense. A lot of the original Rising was ported over into Revengeance, anyway. The cut and take mechanic; Sam as the antagonist; the codec support team; Raiden's character design and the plot of him losing an eye/his original body, was all recycled from the original Rising. I do hope they go back to the story of Raiden between MGS2 and 4 at some point, but Revengeance was a f---ing blast and I'm not mad that we got that instead.

Set between the events of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4, Risingwas going to explain how Raiden became the character that he did in Metal Gear Solid 4.[3] The story was said to be darker than Metal Gear Rising and would depict Raiden rescuing Sunny from the Patriots. Several of the Unmanned Gear enemies seen in Metal Gear Rising, most notably the Mastiff enemy, as well as Boris Vyacheslavovich Popov were to be included in the game

I'm aware of the plot, it would've been about saving Sunny from the Patriots and then presumably retrieving Big Boss's body for Eva. I don't see how this means he would've been human for part of the game, though. We don't know when he became a cyborg and when the mission to rescue Sunny took place

I said I hope they go back to that story, it's a very obvious gap in the series. I still don't think Revengeance was a big step down from that idea, though

How could I forget about Beyond Good And Evil!? That's a game that definitely needs a sequel. Although, it's been years since they teased footage of it and many articles have already spelled a very grim future for it
