Apr 23, 2015 Ventura Highway opens their 2nd album, this would be the safest choice I think, their first 2 came out in the span of 1 year. Forget was good, I've listened to it quite a few times but then I kinda forgot about it because there were too many albums that I loved from that year: The Suburbs, There Is Love In You, Odd Blood, Brothers, High Violet, Transference, Innerspeaker, We're Here Because We're Here... Not to mention the good rap. I'll have to listen to Eclipse, probably in the weekend along with the new Alabama Shakes. I'm also looking forward to the new Of Monsters And Men, their debut was great. I expect another good one for sure
Apr 23, 2015 Thanks! Also, getting ready to listen to the new Speedy Ortiz album and the new Unknown Mortal Orchestra album that just leaked.
Apr 23, 2015 Didn't know about a new Unknown Mortal Orchestra album coming, that's interesting. I really liked their self titled. I haven't listened to Speedy Ortiz, first time seeing this band tbh. Should I start with their debut? Have you listened to Tame Impala and Pond (the australian ones)?
Apr 23, 2015 I'm interviewing the guy who owns the record label Speedy Ortiz is on (Carpark Records, also home of Toro Y Moi) so that's my main reason for listening to the new album. I've heard their debut is great so yeah, I imagine you'd be good there. And I haven't gotten a chance to get into Tame Impala yet, though it's on my list.
Apr 23, 2015 Alright thanks for the info Tame Impala will release a new album shortly and their previous 2 are great, so the timing is nice haha. Pond's Hobo Rocket (2013) and Man It Feels Like Space Again that came out in January are also nice psychedelic recorsd. I haven't listened to too much of earlier stuff yet
May 1, 2015 I think the only 2015 album I mentioned here was Buxton - Half a Native. Great album, highly recommended. Lately I've been listening to more new music. Finally got around to the new Father John Misty album and I'm loving it. I was a big fan of Fear Fun and this new one is excellent. Also really enjoying Carrie & Lowell by Sufjan Stevens. It's some pretty depressing music, but sometimes I need that kind of mood from my music. The album reminds me of Elliott Smith at times. Lord Huron's Strange Trails has been getting a lot of play from me the last couple weeks too. A strong follow up to 2012's Lonesome Dreams.
May 1, 2015 Man I really liked Half A Native on my first listen. I think I'll play it more when we stop getting that many new albums lol The new Lord Huron was nice, but I prefered Lonesome Dreams. You have to listen to the new Alabama Shakes though. It's becoming one of my favourites of the year so far, great album.
May 1, 2015 I wasn't a big fan of the first Alabama Shakes album so I haven't been in any hurry to listen to the new one. I'll check it out though.
