I'm planning on buying this google chromecast thing. Does anybody have somewhat experience with this? Is it any good?

I have it. I like it, haven't really used it much lately but for $35 it's well worth it. I use it mostly when I get streams for football games on my computer and cast it to my TV. But I already have Netflix and Amazon on my PS4 so I don't really have a use for it otherwise as of now. You can cast from your phone also if you want

Thanks! That's what I wanted to hear, I'm tired of watching Netflix on my laptop so this is the perfect solution. Does it require a strong/fast wi fi connection?

I would imagine if your wifi sucks that it would be choppy. I think an average signal would be fine though

It requires a strong connection to your router, so hopefully they'll be near each other when you hook it up. If your computer can run Netflix, your chromecast will be fine in that regard. I recommend getting a Plex account for music/films. Stream downloaded content directly from your laptop.

Well I have a router in the same room, so this won't be a problem I think. When I do a speedtest it says between 25-30 mbits, so that's kinda fast for a wireless connection I think.
