Definitely. There's so much potential. A noir/detective esque book would be so dope. And I really do think Albus will end up being an antagonist in the new book/series. I doubt he would be the main big bad as he is so young. I see him more as a Kylo Ren. I would love if the Big Bad is Salazar Slytherin. How f---ing badass would that be?

Albus Severus could CHOOSE Gryffindor, but was meant for Slytherin...

During his years at Hogwarts, Harry is called in to deal with his misbehavior on multiple times, but unlike Harry or James' trouble, his are more dark and bullying (much like Snape or Voldemort). Maybe he performs the torture curse on animals, or something sinister, like that. He could be the first Gryffindor to turn dark.

Maybe he severely hurts a classmate, maybe his siblings or cousins.

However, this is a background issue, since Harry and Ron are off on adventures. Maybe they're dealing with werewolves or giants or vampires or dark wizards.

Both sides of this are endless.

But, I think what they'll do is constrict it to Albus, and make Harry's story a background story. Which, I think limits the possibilities for sequels, if that's their aim.

I trust JK, but she also has other writers with her, so IDK.

@Fitzy also I don't think this will be a one off. I think it's the start of a new series all of which will be plays (Published as books of course but plays none the less). Maybe it's a one time thing but I doubt it. I feel that Warner Bros. Is struggling to catch up to Disney right now. Their answer to Marvel? DC. Their answer to Star Wars? Harry Potter. And if you notice right above The Fantastic Beasts poster it said "The Wizarding World". Warner Bros. Bout to MCU this b----.

JK could do something cool too, like she does, and make it obvious that Albus is the bad seed, but turn around and make someone else the bad seed, and Albus was the one taking the fall the entire time. That's some JK Rowling s---, right there.

Or maybe Ron and Hermione's kid, or Teddy.

The only way the kids become interesting is if they make them the background, though. Everyone wants to see Harry, Ron and Hermione. They want to explore the Wizarding World. The best way to do that is having those 3 go on adventures, but have the new kids play the background. Slowly introduce them. Don't over-saturate us with their stories, just yet.

I think it'd be awesome if Albus was blamed and saw to see a troubled kid, only to realize his older brother tortures him or gets him in trouble. Much like Riddle did to Hagrid.

I just worry that they're trying to duplicate Harry's story. Trying to bring those kids through Hogwarts all over again. Hogwarts got boring by book 5, and JK switched it up and made book 6 all about Voldemort. It was an awesome switch up, and obviously book 7 went further than that.

I just REALLY want something different.

I could totally see that. Although if it's written well I wouldn't mind stories from the kids perspective. But I'd be happier if it were split between the first generation characters (Harry, Ron, Hermione) and the second gen (Albus, James, Lily)

I think that's why a split perspective could work. A chapter following Harry, A chapter following Albus. And I don't think it will be a rehash of Harrys story since I really do think Albus (or at least one of the kids) will become a dark wizard.

True, but I'd want it later in the series, where the "crimes" become more serious and Harry can't ignore it any longer or something.

I'd just love to see Ron, Harry and Hermione going on some epic adventures where they're investigating crimes, and they're adults now, so their magic has progressed and each can handle their own.

Definitely. Seeing them as powerful full grown wizards would be so cool. How great will it be to see the trio on screen again when this is (inevitably) made into a movie? I love the crime idea. I always thought an Auror TV show would be dope.

Yeah, like first movie is mostly about them and whatever investigation they're on... But then there are one or two scenes showing a troubled Albus, very minor ordeals, but something is up.

Then the second film is similar, but there are more ordeals, a lot heavier...

Then eventually the reveal happens, whether Albus is a Dark Wizard, or he's being framed.

Lol so long as he doesn't start talking about sand or complain about Obi Wan on his journey to becoming a villain I'm good. But I agree I hope it isn't rushed. I think the shadow of his father could be a huge part. Having to live up to that legacy would be hard, creating a resentment, pushing him further towards the dark side.

@Fitzy also I agree with what you said earlier. OOTP seemed like the perfect time for Harry to dabble with the dark side. Felt like a missed opportunity although I still love the book.

This would be perfect and essentially exactly what I want. A prequel centered on the first wizarding war and the original Order would be incredible. We may know the story, but like I said, it would be a great experience to see it come to life. Personally I think prequels would better serve the Harry Potter legacy than sequels centering around Albus Severus.

I totally would love a Prequel series but I'm down for sequels to. A story involving Harry battling his son, the next dark wizard, is just to good to pass up. I can imagine Albus finding the resurrection stone and being taught the dark arts by Voldemort and Salazar Slytherin. There's so much to explore. Slytherin would make for a great big bad for a sequel series, with Albus serving an apprentice/Kylo Ren type role.

What if the horcrux from Harry's scar was only partially destroyed and his son has a part from Voldemort in him now... could be interesting

This. Or Albus finds the resurrection stone and becomes Voldemorts apprentice from beyond the grave. I imagine a climax taking place in the deparent of misteries (the place where serious dies). Just think of Harry dueling Albus, Albus using the resurrection stone, and Voldemort talking Albus into killing his father. There are so many possibilities I really wonder what they'll actually do for book 8.
