His last project was Acid Rap? f--- out of here lol.

He went national off of a free mixtape. He's been touring nonstop off the strength of that alone. Surf was a project he did with some friends and despite a mixed reception, drew a lot of attention and has gotten some great reviews by major publications.

every single thing he has done since acid rap is bad, though.

it's funny--chance's 2014-15 output is bad because it exhibits the same sort of problems that marred acid rap and 10 day. what grounded those (and made the former great) was, for the most part, subject matter. rap fans usually overestimate the importance of topical writing (rap is more often than not about style), but that really seems to be the uncommon denominator here.

Yeah I think I hyped Surf a lot doe, it's still a decent record and the highs are really high but the final work is kinda meh and a lot of people forgot about it pretty quickly.

Chance didn't fell off, his skills are still there, I think he can easily top Acid Rap, he needs to focus

I didn't hear much for promos and interviews leading up to the release so it might've been clear to the people watching closely but not to the casual fan. I would've been happy if we had traditional Chance rapping over these instrumentals but a lot of the minute long instrumental parts complete k--- this album.

Acid Rap is a great mixtape, there's kinda no way around that. neither is a classic, though.

It's not even a good mixtape. Not even the best in that subgenre. I really think Chance is unlistenable garbage and I can't figure out how people listen to him and think he's very good. Between the stupid topics, annoying hooks, irritating singing, annoying voice, I really don't understand the appeal
