Has Dre ever actually written anything? Or was it always ghost written?

Sam Sneed wrote "Keep Their Heads Ringin." Bishop Lamont didn't write anything on 2001. Timbaland also doesn't write.

No, Dr. Dre doesn't write raps. I think Cube wrote "Express Yourself" on "Straight Outta Compton" for him to break up the monotony of the album.

Dre never wanted to be a rapper, but he had to step in on NWA's second album when Cube left.

When they went to Death Row, the plan was to make another D.O.C. solo album, but he was in a car accident that damaged his vocals, so Suge forced Dre to rap and create "The Chronic." After that, there was a demand for Dre as a rapper. Dre doesn't know how to rap well, but he does give directions in what he wants to say and comes up with concepts for songs.
