These arguments are unfair because considering modern music to be on the same level as classics triggers old people who dismiss newer guys off the bat.

"People were so much smarter because a dark song went over their heads"

Not to mention half of rap nowadays fits the bill of "dark subject matter disguised as pop hit".

90's - Aussie hip-hop scene is very very small/near dead.

00's - Aussie hip-hop scene actually becomes prominent.

90's. 2000's was the beginning for bs rappers getting put on. Not saying that the 90's didn't have any, but they didn't have as many. No Limit and Cash Money effect was in full swing in the 2000's and you started seeing some really s-----y artists pop out of all regions. 2000's still had a lot of great artists and albums but there was less fat in the 90's.

I experienced both eras. I was a kid going into my teens in the 90s and I was a teen going into my twenties in the 2000's. The 90's were better.
