Oct 8, 2016he needs at least one "mainstream" classic (that is more mainstream and more appealing to the casual listener) and one more classic in tpab style but with different sound

He's getting there...It's amazing how he really has gotten better from project to project. Seems just like authentic progression from hard work slowly manifesting over the years to make him what he is today. Cool to be a fan and watch that take place. Most artists don't stay continuously moving forward like Kendrick.Aslatrri, Midwest Face, h Allu and 11 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Kendrick doesnt have to make a mainstream album to be great ...he can do that by continuing to be himself. He stands out and always has, which is part of his appeal. Kanye didnt become what he is now by following the wants and desires of whats considered mainstream. He made music that he felt was important to him and people felt that.
I do think Kendrick holds back on his most recent features (for whatever reason) but i remember him saying something like the inspiration needs to be there. With GKMC i think he was inspired to tell his story and let the world know who he was and what he was about. With TPAB he was inspired to share his experiences from traveling and how it relates to what he's witnessed growing up.
Ive only seen nothing but growth from Kendrick especially having listened to his earlier released songs. (like 2008/09 stuff). I guess i just appreciate that more than a discography of songs that have the same type of beats/flow/ etc. Kendrick has the perfect opportunity to continue to develop and establish himself as one of the greats.Ordinary Joel, crlk, Spiritual Zay and 7 others like this. -

I never thought he would top sx80 and he did it, I never thought he would top gkmc and he did it, I have no doubt he will top tpab as well. -

It's insane thinking about how HUGE Kendrick's feature game was 2011-2013 vs now. Compare Nosetalgia to Goosebumps. So terrible.Ordinary Joel, Deadpool, dkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl and 5 others like this. -

"But, he believes Kanye and Kendrick are the only cats in the game to ever achieve the back-to-back classic run. And for any B.I.G. fans raising your hand to speak up for Ready to Die and Life After Death, Joey’s got that covered. “I love Big. But, I don’t know how much credit Big is to get for his two amazing albums because Puff was there. I’ve never heard a bad Puff album. I’ve never heard any album that he had anything to do with be bad.”

Thats the ONLY clever thing Budden has ever said
Edit: props to him for saying tpab is one of the best albums in music history even though he didn't enjoy it, that's a rare case when budden was able to put his bias and own entertainment aside. If only he could do that with Drake...Aslatrri, Midwest Face, crlk and 4 others like this. -

Kendricks feature quality has completely fell off the map, he from from dropping s--- like his verses on collard greens, blessed, nosetalgia etc. to s--- like goosebumps, im ya dogg, really doe, etc.
s80 and gkmc are both leagues ahead of tpab and UU also, its like he forgot what made him so good in the first placeOrdinary Joel, chip100, DKC and 4 others like this. -

He will never compare to kanye in terms of impact, but I can see him getting up there discography wise. I remember when TPAB dropped I didnt f--- with it more than GKMC, but I had to grow up.
Classic album, he didn't miss one track on this album man. it's mindblowing.
If his next album is anything like it, I'd seriously consider kendrick as a contender for top10
