After Proof left Eminem he decided he needed another hype man, he picked Mr. Porter, which I think was just a random pick, he wasn't really relevant at the time when Proof was alive, nobody knew or cared for him if he was in the band or if he existed.

So, if you where Em & you got to choose somebody in your record label who would you go for, I always thought he should have gone with Obie Trice, he was a better rapper & he is also from Detroit, so I didn't see why he couldn't have gone with him, plus they had the best songs together & i think that's when he brought out the best in him.

After actually seeing Eminem live at The Monster tour I can't really complain about Mr Porter Eminem held his own throughout the show and didn't really depend on Porter. I can't say it enough how he's different live than on TV its like at the VMAs or anything hes told what to do like a puppet but in his own show he performs much better and isn't awkward at all. Just to stay on topic I think Porter was the reasonable pick because he's more focused on his beats than rapping having anyone else who has more of a name and main focus is his own music seems weird. Like Royce or Obie would be putting out material but would only be known as Eminems hype man.

Most rappers have a hype man. Not all no, but most. So.... how or why would that ever be classed as a negative, and whats your issue with having a hype man??

I'm sure you'd be the one bitching if you went to a show and your favourite rapper was missing half the lyrics out due to being out of breath.

Mr. Porter is clearly the closest friend Em has who is happy to fulfill that function. It's an odd job to do, pretty thankless and requires being free to do concerts all over the place. Who else are you really gonna go with?

I went to ems new zealand concert last year. Best show ive been to straight up. No stan. Porter was the hype man. Royce was also there. They performed fast lane and lighters. Thought those two bounced off each other better than em and porter. So ill go with royce.
