Aug 14, 2015 I never realized that line bothered people. It didn't phase me at all. Sounded like one of my old a--- aunties or my hustler grandma. Which I guess was the point. Which made it kind of resonate well actually.
Aug 14, 2015 WHAT!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! That's totally understandable lol. Some people hate it and for justifiable reasons, but I personally loved it
Aug 14, 2015 A song with yellow wolf and a modern em verse is bound to be bad, reminiscing on shi--ing next to your deceased friend makes the supposedly serious verse even worse and ridiculous and ruins the only bit of emotion the song had going for it
Aug 14, 2015 I love it, but its obvious some people won't like it, sound itself is subjective and some people just won't like the sonics of the album, nothing wrong with that... Although i really love it i'd rather people just admit they don't like it rather then try to force themself to because it's 'progressive' and 'experimental' which i believe some people have, but kudos for giving the album one more serious shot, maybe something will click this time.... EDIT: what i dislike is when people not only dislike the album, but try to say that anyone who does is just forcing themself to because it's kendrick, lots of people made this claim when it first released....
Aug 14, 2015 I'll do the same thing @Squid I loved this album when it first came out, and it's not like I hate it now. I just feel so much different than I did, but I can't wait to listen to it in full again! Will report back
Aug 14, 2015 I think you'll slowly begin to appreciate it. Well not think, more so I hope that you'll appreciate it.
Aug 14, 2015 Seeing as how the album is full of "black sayings" and barbershop talk (i.e. the Oprah Color Purple quote, Sheeeeeeit, or the voicemail, MJ made Billie Jean!, etc) i can only see how cohesive it ties into the album.
Aug 14, 2015 I dunno, I've never heard of anyone outside this forum say this. It never even crossed my mind that it could be a potentially awkward or out of place personally. I have heard people complain about the stroller line though (but I have no problem with either). And @Squid "I ain't got no manners for no sluts/I'ma put my thumb in her butt" bothers me infinitely more than this line.
Aug 14, 2015 honestly the only people irl i heard even complain about it were white...so idk if thats just a cultural thing tbh But what stroller line you talkin about?
Aug 14, 2015 I rate this album highly but I still can't vibe with it as much as I can with other rap albums that tried a similar approach (Soulquarian movement late 90s/early 2000s, ATCQ). King Kunta, i & Wesley's Theory remain being my favorites from it.
Aug 14, 2015 Young Thug "I'ma ride in that p---- like a stroller" off Good Times. I think that whole song is gr8
