My only complaint which isn’t really one is, like mentioned above is I miss being able to click on a thread and automatically being brought to the most recent page of new posts. Now every time we click on a thread that’s like 1,000+ pages it brings it to the first page. Other than that I’m happy with it. This place is like home that I check in everyday. I wish I had signed up sooner instead of just reading everything as a non member for years. But the last couple of years as a actual member here has been fun, entertaining and a good place for discussion. The only other thing I can think of is I wish there was a way to make the creative section more alive. A lot of members on here who are trying to promote their work and get feedback on it just doesn’t have the audience or people who care to give it a shot.Slyk, rapmusik, Ordinary Joel and 3 others like this. -

we don't need to try to look like KTT or reddit
D12world/SL/S80 had its own identity and eminem and negativity were huge parts of it, whether you like it or not
doesn't mean we can't evolve and try new things obviously!
just my two cents. but it's the only music forum i've ever been on you know! i'm loyal as a dogSlyk, Guma, Ordinary Joel and 3 others like this. -

bring back negging & repping! not only like/dislike, that's bland as h---, but anonymous negs and reps with comments like SL provided.
I also liked that there were "levels" to that. koolo negging you really hurt your reputation score, while a newbie had close to no points to give or take. it was quite weird and unfair but made people want to stay!
also big a--- avatars were cool
idk, these are not fresh ideas but I really liked SLCARNIFEX, Guma, Ordinary Joel and 3 others like this. -

People come here because of Eminem and Kendrick. Plain and simple. Make some steps to pump some life into Kanye/Frank/Tyler etc. sections and advertise (if this site even does ads, I admittedly haven’t been on here in years until the recent Em/Nick stuff) those. The biggest hip hop forum that isn’t reddit, which is KTT, is dying fast because members broke off and went to another site. The artist specific sections on reddit s---...the Eminem subreddit is people that will only ever listen to Eminem. Same with Frank/Kanye/Kendrick subreddits to some extent.
There is a big need for a forum like this right now, especially considering the rising popularity in different subgenres under hip hop, capitalize on that! There’s nothing about this site that I would specifically change really; it’s the best forum I go on as far as design and userbase goes. Put posts out on the hiphopheads subreddit, talk about how it’s a self-started hip hop forum and tell a bit about the history. People will eat it up, and this type of forum isn’t really a competitor to a forum like that. Completely different set ups, voting, etc.
I also think you should aim pretty d--- high, the ceiling of this forum is up there...this isn’t some corner of the internet that nobody knows about.
also, keep in mind that most of the time, big changes bring out the worst in some users. You will get s--- on for any major changes you make to the forum and that DOES NOT mean you shouldn’t make them. It means that you should consider them and pull the trigger on carrying out the ideas when you feel like you’re doing the correct thing. And there’s nothing wrong with suggesting it to the userbase and tagging us...if you wanna do something big, bring a lot of users on here, make a change for this forum that you think is the best, there’s nothing wrong with tagging us all and asking for input; there’s also nothing wrong with doing it yourself and watching the response.
also, if it matters at all, feel free to PM me any time with ideas. I’m big into marketing and hip hop, I’d love to be able to help this forum in any way possible.

I think this place suffers from being known as an Eminem stan hub tbh. Like, other successful forums literally have one thread dedicated to all things him. And then when a new album comes out, a thread for that as well. Obviously with a site like KTT, there are a million threads for Kanye, but I think more people, especially young people, care about his music. Though, interest in him is declining as well. Since he’s always in the public eye, he remains culturally significant at all times. So there are timely things to talk about. Eminem on the other hand is quiet unless he’s putting an album out. Literally no one cares about the threads that are made about him except the small community of stans on here. Idk just my look on things. Forums are still capable of growing, I just don’t think many kids care for the content that is mostly posted here.
edit: basically, there should be one big Eminem thread like the J. Cole one with the exception of major news (albums, disses that matter, etc.) If for nothing else than not scaring people away with 8/10 threads on the recent post page being about random Em related nonsense. Like @JMG said, target the fan bases of relevant artists. Kendrick is kind of tricky too for the same reasons as Eminem. He drops an album and no one sees him for 5 years. Though he is getting ready to drop another album.Last edited: Dec 13, 2019rapmusik, 1999, Base Reality and 3 others like this. -

we appreciate you @Slyk.. i know i made some comments but i know you work your a--- off.
I think at this point its gotta be a major change.. right now we discuss a mixed bag of artist.. you gotta target big fan bases. post malone is probably the biggest rapper right now. however there is nothing here for his fans. we got the stans here who carry the forum. but were based of kenrick lamer. we gotta target some of these other fan bases and bring them in. it wouldnt be hard.. and if you cant get the socials then make new ones. im sure there is plenty of people who would do it, me included if need be. you need a number 2 also. @Koolo is always king and im sure he will reign again but not until hes out of prison. gotta have a wing man. id be happy to fill in. also you gotta get rid of @Enigma.. guest that come in don't want live updates of the impeachment in the j cole thread. hes been derailing countless threads with liberal bs. hes gotta go.
last thing is you gotta change this reply box. show who is viewing thread again. it just feels like im typing on a half sheet of paper.Trackz, lil uzi vert stan, Ricky and 3 others like this. -

targeting/marketing
i have admin rights to 3 social media accounts rn:
- facebook: sxn80
- facebook: drake sxn
the others have all been taken down, are in @Mike Tyson 's name (haven't been able to get ahold of him for past 8 months...hope he's alright), or have been ran into the ground (@Rick wtf w/ that instagram account?)
i'm going to create a new insta account. i'll need people to take the reins on running each of them. holla if you want to be involved and i'll get you access. we'll need active participants rn. per above, being active/productive on these will get ya into the Plus group once i'm able to get that going

I know you truly care about this stuff and I appreciate you putting in the effort, but I really think you're overthinking it—like andy said a lot of it is simply engagement and content. It's not like we'd have retained 2015-2017 levels of activity if we stayed with 2.0. I think it was just sorta the straw that broke the camel's back with some people if they were already logging in less and less and one day saw a design change they didn't like or didn't feel was intuitive.
I thought 2.0 had a preview of latest posts on mobile but maybe I'm remembering wrong and getting it mixed up with desktop cuz I used them interchangeably. Of course I'd rather have a preview of the thread title with the latest post but I didn't even know that that's what you were pointing out with the image. -

maybe i'm tired and misreading, but i'm getting a pretty aggressive tone from a large chunk of that. i'll dive into some later, but i gotta remind you that the purpose of this thread wasn't to identify if a line is needed, or to make a box solid or outlined, or if i can avoid a page refresh that occurs once in a rarity -- this needs to be bigger picture of "how can we help grow the site". yes, all the little things can add up, but there's a pretty clear line of what does and doesn't fall into that category here. i thought i did a good job of addressing even those that don't fall into that category without dismissing them entirely, but they are in fact small potatoes and i probably won't circle back on those here rn.Michael Myers, Nay Nay, lil uzi vert stan and 2 others like this. -

while i'm in here today, i wanted to touch on:
forums are dying
the trick here (which, i have no idea on how to perform) is to make the masses know that there's more out there than just the reddits and that there is actual benefit to joining a proper community. tbph, this is a problem that's like 50 levels above my capabilities, but s---, i'm totally open to thoughts on how to put an emphasis into the internetsphere of why forums are a better choice for discussion.Michael Myers, Nay Nay, Ordinary Joel and 2 others like this. -

Τbh everything @Nay Nay said feels like could make the experience a lot better.
I wanted to add that I kinda hate the fact that we have to refresh the page for pretty much everything.
I think new posts page, notis and recent activity (if it comes back anyway) should all be real time.JEB, Ordinary Joel, DKC and 2 others like this. -

Maybe you're right about the long run and I do get what you mean (s--- trolls shouldn't be allowed in serious discussions) but sometimes a post sums up people's thoughts and people agree or a different discussion appears maybe a little off topic, we should just what, delete that? Not sure if that is gonna make people post more tbh
Again in serious discussions I agree to an extent post that don't add s--- (as in, potentially ruining the discussion) should be deleted but this is still a message board so people like to interact with eachother. Posters that are active every day are also on this forum talking to eachother, posting threads and talking about several topics. If you want to delete every post that isn't pitchfork ghostwritten thoughtfull stuff, this place becomes a lot less fun for a lot of posters.Last edited: Jan 6, 2020Guma, Ordinary Joel, 1999 and 2 others like this. -

What's already been echoed but I don't think addressed is when clicking on a thread you've already viewed and being taken to the 1st post of the thread and having to go through the pages to find where you left off. That wasn't the case in 2.0. At this point I kind of forget all of the features of 2.0 vs 3.0 but I remember liking 2.0 more. I think the upgrade hurt more because we're more dead and 2.0 was simpler. Change is always met with frustration because as you said, no one likes it, but they adjust quick and this doesn't seem to be the case. Def not knocking the work you do, much appreciated, just some feedbackNay Nay, Cyreides, lil uzi vert stan and 2 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -
