Tbh @Slyk imo if you look at the past week we had some threads popping and being active, u barely see Eminem threads dominating. This only happens when there's nothing else people discuss.
My point is, when there's enough to discuss eminem threads aren't that big of a problem, they only stick out when nothing else is getting discussedOrdinary Joel, Zeugma and Bojack like this. -

can y'all provide any more detail on this? i've had just as many, if not more, alerts than anyone else here since launch. i've admittedly had maybe 2-3 times where a blip occurred and the alert notification wouldn't clear. in all cases, i believe it had something to do with a bug in a profile comment alert. in those couple instances, i did mark all as read, and then went about my business for the next 6 months without an issue again.. how often is this happening for you? what scenarios?
curious on why you're ignoring alerts entirely tbh.
re the interface of it: if you don't like the groupings/categories/changes, or whatever, then you can literally do nothing and it will be the full listing of the alerts, just as it was previously. if you choose to ignore the new tools of the interface, then the difference should only be: 1.) requires a click/visit to the notification to clear it (this will not change), 2.) your historical notifications are shown
why #1 won't change: in 2.0, if you logged in and had 10 notifications, click the alerts dropdown to see them, and click on one of them.... then all of the other 9 will be automatically be marked as read. h--- -- in 2.0, i believe they even disappeared quickly so you couldn't see the historical data for very long. UX-wise, 2.0 was f---ing stupid and such a terrible, illogical, experience. one additional piece regarding the new functionality, which only enhances it further: if you have 3 likes on a single post, and you visit that one post, then all 3 of the alert notifications disappear -- it's not like you have to click on all three individually to be shown the same thing.
minor, every-so-often, bug aside, i'm pretty firm on this, but obviously open to be convinced otherwise that there's a better solution, with the thought in mind that it will encourage more activity and new sign-ups. (i want to try to stay focused on this theme throughout the discussion here)

Cialis ads will help erect attention for the Sxn80 cause. Let them in. It's Initiative 101, baby. It's okay. I know what you're thinking. "So immoral, Jay. Why would you even insinuate or suggest that I ever stoop so low?" You might ask yourself. "What's it all for? How did I get here?" The answer is simple, really. Sometimes you have to show a little teat, to make 'em skeet. The proverbially-aforementioned (th)em, would be the taste-makers and pundits of the vital marketing industry, as well as its fairly commonplace Cyberspace Outreach Predispositions.Guma, Ordinary Joel and Slyk like this. -

have you had a chance to view the side by side images of 2.0 to 3.0 a few posts up? seeing those, i tend to disagree with you that 2.0 was simpler enough as to it warranting discussion between the two rn-- again, unless we're strictly referring to the homepage (which IS significantly different).
thread view: identical, minus we now have a sidebar & you can jump to the other sxns up top..if you recall, we actually had a sidebar in 2.0 for a few months and people loved it, but it had to be removed due to some technical issues at the time
sxn view: same thing.
...this goes back to what i said in my large post above that comments on 2.0 vs 3.0 are painted with broad strokes. if you really do mean that you think 2.0 was simpler across all aspects (outside of the homepage), then hit me with some more detail. but if it's the homepage that we're really talking about, then that part i understand.Ordinary Joel, Sav Stanfield and Worm like this. -

Regarding the interface, what exactly is xenforo preventing S80 from doing that KTT2 can? Even if 3.0 is a downgrade from 2,0, the forum was still dying and on a decline with 2.0. I don't think sticking with 2.0 or 1.0 would've prevented anything
I'm down to try it anyway. Let's ban eminem threads and go back to 2.0 or even switch to vbulletin if thats possible at all. But I don't think these are the causes
I don't think there is any specific cause apart from the fact that like others have said message boards are getting less and less popular due since social media/twitter and the rapid rise of reddit too imo. They've stolen potentially new and ex forum posters of any kind of forums not just music by the literal millions. There's just so many places for people to talk about music nowadays. Some forums are still active and some aren't despite all effortsOrdinary Joel, Michael Myers and Zeugma like this. -

With that said I think the first thing that the site needs is an overhaul. It is sad to say knowing what this site was but after spending one posting day at ktt2 I have to say that s80 feels dated af.
s--- ktt2 is even interesting just looking at the home page with all that real time stuff thats going on.
After that I really dont care about even deleting em section and keep a thread or whatever.
I just dont think its the main problem for the time being.Ordinary Joel, Michael Myers and Boos like this. -

I've suggested it before but apparently it would detract from people finding the site through Google. I'm still all for it though.Buddha, Ordinary Joel and Boos like this. -

Honestly we should just rename this forum something Eminem related. Make this the best forum and one and only spot for all Em news and discussion. Then we just have smaller music sections for us. Seems like a win win to me?Ordinary Joel, Guma and lil uzi vert stan like this. -

I enjoyed the old neg/rep system, in 99% of cases it reflected accurately how good of a poster you were on here and made for good comedy when Mods had enough of your bs. With main social media sites like Twitter being used so much forums kind of died a bit. I can’t name a forum anymore with activity from 10000+ on at the same time since 10 years ago, let alone 3,000 at prime leak era this decade. Forums need something unique to attract attention and survive, I just couldn’t tell you what that would be atmGuma, Ordinary Joel and Zeugma like this. -

Idk I think reinstating rep is probably the most fun and engaging option. People w high rep should be a qualification for plus.

Is @joeyp363 or @JMG even funny anymore? The same old gimmicks and we all know they are trolling. Unless they want to put more effort into their trolls and actually discuss stuff instead of one liners than they should not be allowed to troll in threads either. We need a higher quality standard on the main boards.
Also we should build up the creative section. Yes, not everyone is gonna want to be involved with amateur musicians and creatives, but a lot of people became members here by sharing music first. Featuring Creative songs and s--- weekly will bring more people here too, if not to listen than to look for publicity and once here they are likely to stick aroundGuma, Ordinary Joel and Bojack like this.
