Jun 20, 2023 Vs. just obsessing over how he's saying what he's saying, how much he's rhyming and complexity of raps. And f---ing PUNS. God awful puns. Like, I just heard 'No Apologies' on as s--- was shuffling and I haven't heard that in god knows how many years but just the definitive and memorable beat... instant impact. Think of all his classic material - think of MMLP and you instantly think of The Way I Am Beat... think of TES, you can instantly remember the Cleanin Out My Closet beat, the Square Dance beat... and the melodic flows which match them... What's the last Eminem beat you can remember? Not that beats are the be all and end all but they are a major part of the song. This is music after all. And I'm not saying his recent beats are even necessarily bad. But they're not memorable. I can't remember any of them and other rappers could have used them, where as no rapper would have Role Model or The Way I Am beats... these are unique, big, melodic and memorable and suiting to his flows. All his s--- is so generic lately. If he just focused on making memorable MUSIC again and stop fkn obsessing over puns and every single bar and fans' reactions to that s---... he could still talk about the same old s--- but make memorable s--- again - with big, memorable hooks - RAP hooks. Not sing-song hooks, even if he does them now they're always sing-song, half-sung hooks... what happened to the creativity of making purely RAP hooks like Lose Yourself feel absolutely larger than life. So unambitious now. Just phoning in endless verses with 10,000 puns about how he came up and how he's not respected enough. So self-serious. Where's the fkn creativity.
