    The point was that he had a legendary catalog in a few years that most rappers can't put together in their whole lives.

    Ofc he has a catalog better than "most rappers" lol I never said he didn't

    There are about 600,000,000 rappers , unofficial/official

    I didn't say Cube was wack
    I just think he is overrated(most people rank him top 15 which I disagree with)

    I wouldn't put Cube below top 25 rappers OAT though , he is at least top 25

    People should remember that there was a 2-3 year period where Cube was arguably the biggest rapper on the planet.

    1988: chief lyricist for Straight Outta Compton

    1990: hooks up with Chuck D and the Bomb Squad (which provides East Coast credibility) and releases a classic debut, Amerikkka's Most Wanted

    1990: NWA releases 100 Miles and Runnin', which is OK but doesn't live up to expectations...people blame the absence of Ice Cube

    1991: stars in Boyz N The Hood

    1991: releases another classic and one of the most controversial albums of the decade (read the Billboard editorial), Death Certificate

    1992: releases The Predator, which has one of the best singles of all time, It Was A Good Day

    two masterpieces solo LPs. two more solo records that are 4.5 mics. straight outta compton. virtually nobody has five records that good.

    He made three amazing solo albums that managed to be hard as f--- and socially conscious at the same time. Cube's storytelling skills are right up there with the best of them..."Once Upon a Time in the Projects" and "Alive on Arrival" come to mind. NWA seems to overshadow most of his solo contributions (unfortunately). I think to the general public he's just "NWA and family movies", but dedicated hip-hop fans know better than that.

    Lupe 2006-2007 , he was the biggest rapper in the world also at one point and was everywhere but I don't see people putting that in Lupe's favour

    The amount of people that say that Cube's family movie tarnished their view of his music is crazy. Ice Cube isn't a teenager anymore. He's a grown a--- man. I think it'd be lame as f--- if he tried to hold onto that high school mentality. I think a lot of people that judge him for that are young people, who don't realise that life changes (especially when you become a father). He's probably still more real than your favourite rapper, too.

    He's given us classics upon classics and while he may not be in the charts, he still drops decent music decades later. He's handled longevity very well and he's without a doubt a legend and a pioneer, especially for the Westcoast and even bridging the gap between the West and East (with Bombsquad). He'll be remembered for a long time after 99% of other rappers fade into black.

    Because their runs aren't even sorta on the same level. Ice Cubes role in hip hop changed the genre. Lupe had half a run for like a year.

    My point has nothing to do with Cube acting in family movies tbh

    My point simply was that Cube is overrated because there are 20-25 rappers that are more skilled than him overall yet people rank him top 10-15

    When comparing MC's you have to compare overall skill

    Though Cubes longevity is one of the best in hip hop easily I can't deny that and that counts for a top tier MC

    But if you want to talk about same level
    Cube's classics aren't on the same level as Killer Mike's classics or Black Thought's classics(The Roots)
