    He is in my top 5 of all time Eazy was never all that great lyrically IMO and Dre was a far better producer than a rapper, personally I think Cube was a better Rapper then any of the other dudes, I mean maybe you could argue Ren was better but in my opinion Cube was the greatest.

    if we were ranking cube's first two albums against lupe's, both of cubes would be over both of lupe's. also, no, lupe was not "the biggest rapper in the world" at any point in his career

    do you know how few rappers have a peak period that lasted as long as ice cube's? or had as many classic songs? virtually none.
    this is your opinion, and it's a weird opinion to have. cube was such a powerful, arresting writer that he literally calcified gangsta rap into what it would be for decades. his verses got played at protests and rallies and riots. and the level of craftsmanship in how even his angriest songs are constructed is dizzying. listen to "my summer vacation" and tell me he wouldn't have been a great novelist.
    aren't abstract enough to be the best???? what does that even mean? why do you want every rapper to have the same style?
    this just shows you don't know what you're talking about. cube's flows were actually very, very ahead of their time. in 1988 he was rapping in cadences that could still make it onto the radio today. who else was doing that?

    You implied as much classic songs or long periods so I gave peaks of rappers which are stronger imo

    I didnt imply he wasnt a great lyricist at all , I said "he wasnt the best lyricist"

    I take my view of him not being abstract back as thats just who he is , he has different ways of expressing his craft
    I also take the flow opinion back

    But my opinion on Cube being overrated and just under top 20 MCs of all time still stands

    listen to his first couple albums...great albums...very lyrical...

    I'm guessing this debate was spurred on by Cube's appearance on "Real Time"...

    I'm guessing Ice Cube's animosity towards Bill Maher has more to do with Maher's stances on Islam and Cube being a Muslim than a bad joke with a naughty word in it.

    No I disagree. He doesn't get enough credit tbh. His work with NWA as an MC and ghostwriter and his early solo work are legendary. He influenced a lot of artists.
