Sep 10, 2015 Yes, clearly. It feels like people attach too much weight to Biggie because he's dead and people generally overhype things once they're gone and under appreciate things that are right in front of them. People are too scared to put anyone in the same category as Pac/Big because theyre dead and therefore almost sacred, it's just dumb. Kendrick is top 3 of all time period.
Sep 10, 2015 Sir you need to refer to my Big thread. At least read the words if you are already familiar with the tracks I share. Biggie was one of a kind.
Sep 10, 2015 Life After Death isn't even Bigs best album I mean I don't understand how people can write off Kendrick like that. It just seems clear that he's in the same category as BIG.
Sep 10, 2015 THIS i was jizzing ALL OVER kendrick the year GKMC came out. Because he had like upwards of 60 STELLAR features...he's been on a decline, especially with features, since then. im obviously a strong proponent of unfiltered hype, but jesus lol people need to be more critical when trying to assert these kind of statements
Sep 10, 2015 So is Pac, Nas, Kanye. Young Thug is f---ing one of a kind, doesn't make him a good rapper. I respect and appreciate Biggie just as much as anyone else but it feels like no one can let a rapper alive be put into the same group as Biggie or Pac simply because theyre dead.
Sep 10, 2015 How are we writing off Kendrick by saying that his two albums aren't as good as two insanely influential and loved albums made by one of the most influential and loved rappers of all time???? How can you even say that? Give Kendrick a few more years, see what his career becomes and transforms into. The lasting effect he has. In reality, you are writing off Biggie.
Sep 10, 2015 i LOVE good kid, m.A.A.d. city. "money trees" and "maad city" would both be in my top 50 songs from this decade so far. it's a great achievement, better than all but five or so albums that have come out since the start of 2010. but Ready To Die and Life After Death are like Illmatic: they're so undeniable, so masterful that two decades later, they're still being stripped for parts and repurposed by even the best rappers in the world. in fact, big is imitated more than nas ever was. Ready To Die is one of the ten saddest rap albums ever made, but also one of the ten meanest, and maybe one of the ten funniest. Life After Death is, along with Blueprint, the best album ever made about being a rap star, and the only double-disc retail album by a solo rapper that justifies its length. it might be the best album of all time--when's the last time you really sat with "n----s bleed" or "long kiss goodnight" or "kick in the door" or "i gotta story to tell" or "my downfall" or "somebody's gotta die"?
Sep 10, 2015 lmao come ON now your excuse for ignorance is "its not relevant to me?" then stop f---ing talking about "GOAT" this and "GOAT" that....its that easy.
Sep 10, 2015 If either of Big's albums dropped today they would no doubt be better than anything anyone else is capable of putting out. People attach weight to him because he was a once in a lifetime talent who dropped projects that stood the test of time, 20 or so years to be exact.
Sep 10, 2015 I'm not, I said he's an all time great. The thing Im trying to say is people overrate Biggie because he never had the opportunity to fall off. The only rapper who has ever had a full career worth of top quality albums is Kanye.
Sep 10, 2015 big's albums are nakedly and shamelessly of their era and they're still the most enduring rap music ever committed to wax.
Sep 10, 2015 Tell me you didn't just insinuate that Biggie wasn't a great rapper, and that you didn't compare him to Young Thug.
Sep 10, 2015 You're twisting my words, I'm just trying to make the point that uniqueness doesn't make you good. Imo Biggie was great for his word play, flow and humour and not for his individuality.
Sep 10, 2015 because kendrick put out one masterpiece (that doesn't stand up to either of big's) and one album that should be laughed out of this conversation.
