Aug 7, 2015 I view this is an example of how music can be subjective and open to individual opinions. I get where you're coming from saying that individual bar is weak, particularly given the emphatic way with which he said it. However, I thoroughly and respectfully disagree with that logic. In his mind, he'll forever be underground due to never conforming to what he considers "popular" rap/pop music these days (e.g. Waka Flocka Flame). Granted, there is genuinely good popular stuff out, which goes against the aforementioned, but in his mind these acts aren't truly devoted to making good music as him. He's dedicated this recent chapter of his career to complex technical rhyming styles and being emotional (e.g. GOF or Best Friend). To him, this is "underground," which makes sense to me even despite the reality behind @Wolf's original point. Gwen Stefani is considered a very legit pop artist that's withstood the test of time since No Doubt blew up in '97, right around when Em first met Dre. Em pegged her as perfect fit thematically for a song like Kings Never Die. Again, I get where you're coming from when you say having Stefani do a hook is hypocritical toward being underground, but I again personally disagree. To each their own chehahcheahcheahchea
