stylistically better than halftime? lets not get ahead ourselves lol...but i sort of get what you're saying. although im more with @Charlie Strangelove that its too bare bones and a bit haphazard. although that edge + its length actually adds to its replayability

DS2 is better than Barter 6. His album quality mixtapes released in a short period of time plus the supposed collab tape with the Drake.

Well there's not really a discussion to be had if you think he doesn't deserve to at least be in the conversation.

DS2 vs B6 is arguable although Im inclined to agree.

Still, B6 is as good as Monster, 56 nights and Beast Mode. 1017 Thug is just slightly below...Tha Tour pt 1 is the best project either of the two has ever been a part of..

Slime season and Hitunes on the way.

they're neck and neck b...future's other solo albums do give him an edge tho

Well like, maybe "stylistically" isn't the right word. I feel hopelessly unable to articulate right now, but I'm referring more to the structure from a production standpoint more than what the vocalists bring to the table.

Anyways you said you sort of get what I'm saying, so I'm going to leave it there before I confuse you more.

yes there is, this is where you tell me how anything on NWTS or IYRT is even comparable to the music being put out by real "best alive" contenders

I know better than to try and convince you someone is better than Thug, but NWTS & IYRTITL speak for themselves. They have everything you want in an album, great beats, flows, lyrics, songs that are easy to relate to, not to mention handfuls of hits. You have to appreciate the fact that he's been able to evolve his sound into something fresh from project to project while staying true to the things people loved about him when he was coming up. I've heard most of Future's discog, Rich g--- & Barter 6 from Thug and I can safely say that Take Care is the best project any of the 3 have released.

Take care is better than tha tour pt1? Why?

Also, him "stayin fresh" each project is highly subjective. He's clearly been treading the same ground in a lot of ways since TC

And why are NWTS and IYRT enough to make him one of the best alive? ESPECIALLY when there are people who are just as consistent across more releases

Thinking drake, popularity aside, is one of the best rap artists alive is tunnel vision

Side note: "speak for themselves" is a pretty bad argument when I'm asking you to explain why lol

I understand that, but we both know neither of us will back off of what we think. I haven't listened to him as much as a lot of you because it's still hard for me to understand this mof-. I can't rate someone as the best rapper alive when I have to struggle to understanding wtf he is saying. Maybe that's my fault, but I think accessibility/popularity/success should at least be apart of the criteria for being the best, with music obviously being the most important. His production and melodies are on point and I love the fact that he releases so much music, but he's not on Drake's level, let alone Future's. He's still young as f--- so he can definitely get there in time.

For the record, I never said Drake was the best because of how popular he is either.

"Drake isn't the best because of how popular he is"

"I think accessibility/popularity/success should be at least part of the criteria"

    I don't get it tbh

Also, I f---in hate the "neither of will back off" thought process...the whole reason I ask WHY is to maybe learn something new. Maybe YOU won't change your opinion (or people like you who've said the same thing to me in the past) but I most definitely will if presented with a sound argument. So it's probably best to speak for yourself lol

Being open minded is how I got into thug in the first place

And LAST but not least, do you know how much more dismissive people are of thug compared to drake? Yet I still take the time to create arguments for anyone who wants to engage in a convo about him.

You should probably be able to do the same for drake without using as many cop outs lol

Trust me, I'm not afraid to speak my mind. If I wasn't open to things I would have never given Thug a chance in the 1st place. There's nothing more I'd love to do than debate what makes Drake great with songs and etc, just too busy with work atm. I will 100% get back to you with something though, whether it be here or PM.

Word because to me drake is still good. Not great. But good. I rated IYRT an 8 in my review for the site. Being "just" good isnt a bad thing at all lol.

Just takes him out of the "best alive" discussion unless you include other factors not related to the quality of his music

Yeah it's probably his 3rd or 4th best project IMO. I rate it above SFG but every time I listen to SFG I change my mind. To one of my points earlier, IYR is probably the best example of him evolving his sound/style.
