    No, he's right. No1 wants to hear that old a--- s---. We wanna hear our generation's music and dont wanna hear that "back in my old day" bs old people preach.

    Why would you have a reason to lie to me and say you never listened to old 90s music

    Collegrove debate for 7 day theory over illmatic is so cringeworthy

    Illmatic is the most consistently brought up album when people talk about top hip hop records ever. Period

    That's not what I was saying he was wrong about. He's wrong about these albums having no lasting impact. But like I said, this mentality is just as bad as the dusthead mentality.

    Only because it's been forced upon everyone and people are forced to accept the fact that it's top 5 when its not anymore

    If we are talking about greatest, Illmatic is definitely top 5 at worst. If we are talking about best, Illmatic doesn't sniff top 10. It's not even Nasir's best album.

    I don't know about you guys but IRL people who are dust heads/new school heads only are actually not of the intelligence required for me to even talk to

    Like do you actually know people like that IRL? And you can actually hold a convo with them?

    I can't get mad at them because I do the same thing. I would be a hypocrite. And I wouldn't expect them to understand why I have an attachment to the music I like because they didn't grow up in my era. This happens with every generation.

    I didn't even start listening to rap until illmatic was almost 10 years old lol. I had to go back and listen to all the 90s classics well after they were released.

    Because the album has impact, influence, and longevity.

    Greatest =/= best. I made a distinction

    Imma be honest, I used to like Illmatic a lot when I first started deep diving into rap. But now that sht lowkey overrated.
