Apr 10, 2015 i think you are just a huge fan of the guy and are splitting hairs. owl pharaoh is a) derivative and b) not very good. that second point is really the crux--i'm fine with rappers lacking originality (to an extent) if they can really execute, if their music is good enough to be undeniable despite a lack of imagination. it's rare, but it happens. i'm thinking of guys like elzhi or, more recently, isaiah rashad. scott has absolutely nothing going for him. he's an abysmally bad artist. also, his "co-production" credits almost always involve exactly zero work behind an mpc or a mixing board. i know this for a fact.

Apr 10, 2015 See, but the thing here is, it's irrelevant whether or not I'm a fan. I'm simply stating that it is literally laughable to think that Travis Scott is 100% biting in every way. What does Owl Pharaoh derive itself from? the only person making similar music to s--- like Uptown was like Wunda Gurl. Is he really unoriginal if he's one of the first few people to ever do a certain sound, and he did it in a unique variation? Like, I've been providing examples for my side, like how Meadow Creek sounds like nothing else I've heard. I'm not discrediting you, but in this one particular argument you're basically throwing out statements without providing examples, and then saying you don't think he's good and therefore no one should like him.
