When a majority of citizens disagrees with economic elites and/or with organised interests, they generally lose. Moreover, because of the strong status quo bias built into the US political system, even when fairly large majorities of Americans favour policy change, they generally do not get it.

They conclude:

But we believe that if policymaking is dominated by powerful business organisations and a small number of affluent Americans, then America's claims to being a democratic society are seriously threatened.

It reminds me of when Henry Wallace was ousted during the least talked about coup of the 20th century. Henry Wallace was Roosevelt's VP from 1941-45. A beloved progressive & outspoken antifascist, he’s been largely wiped from historical memory. His father was Coolidge & Harding’s Sec. of Agriculture & Henry was also Sec. of Ag. during the New Deal. Wallace was a champion of civil rights, women’s rights & unions. He was a staunch opponent of British & French colonialism. This made him extremely popular with the American people, but an enemy to the Democratic establishment as well as Republicans. As VP, Wallace declared the 20th century to be the “century of the Common Man.” He called for a worldwide people’s revolution in the vein of the French & Russian revolutions, global full employment, an end to poverty & the proliferation of science & tech research. Wallace summarized his politics as "Nation first, Wall Street second." He labeled Wall Street “America’s fascists.” Considering how radical he was, especially for his time, it's not hard to imagine why virtually no one knows about him despite his popularity. By 1944, the establishment had had enough. At the DNC convention on July 20th in Chicago, a coup was staged to get Wallace off the ticket. That day a Gallup poll was released stating only 2% of Americans wanted Truman on the ticket. 65% wanted Wallace back as VP. The first night of the convention, Sen. Claude Pepper attempted to call for a vote that would secure Wallace’s nomination as VP. When he was 5 feet away from the microphone, a motion to adjourn was called by the party bosses. 5% said Aye, 95% said Nay, but the motion carried. All of history changed with that moment. If Wallace remained VP & eventually became President, not only would the atomic bombings likely never happened, but the Cold War could have been avoided & the 20th century could have truly been the “century of the Common Man.”

To me, this was enough to show out what I’d already started to understand as corruption at the core.

You are aware that there are like literally entire volumes of academic literature written about this point in American history, right? Also, in 1944, very few states allowed primaries. Choosing the party nominee was largely left up to party leaders. It wasn’t until 30 years later that the primary process was democratized. It also should be noted that Wallace ran for president as a 3rd party & received 0 electoral votes & mustered up ~2% of the popular vote. Later on in his life, he separated from the progressive party that he ran for president under & endorsed Republican President Dwight Eisenhower. He also wrote about how he wasn’t critical of Stalin/Soviet Union enough earlier in his career.

right, i agree. i dont think enigma or at least i have been on the fence per se, but im joining late. seems more just challenging the efficacy of one solution and in my case bringing up something diff that imo would shift the politics critically on the ground. something that should/needs to be done asap.

Yes, it's always wrong to generalize and two wrongs never make a right and to be frank I do believe that a lot of Israeli people, especially the ones from younger generations are not at fault, but they're all caught up and it can't be helped.. unfortunately.

Now let me educate you about few things in case you are not aware.
In the Arab world and middle east, we were taught about Palestine and this matter and the history of it and the war with Israel since we were young and how Palestine is occupied by an entity called Israel, yes I say entity, because in the Arab world and the Arab media have always refused to acknowledge the existence of that state and in the media such as news they do not refer to it as "Israel" but rather "The Zionist" or "The occupational forces" + it is totally common and norm to hate on and even sound racist towards Israel here in the middle east, especially after the recent events.

Now since I'm not your average stereotypical Arab/middle eastern and normally I wouldn't really stand with Arabs (the stereotypes in particular which are A LOT, especially from the older generations) because they generally do tend to be racist (without even being aware), privileged and they think they're better than everyone, uneducated, uncultured and very ignorant and some of them still live under a rock...I could go on and on, but that's a topic for another day and time. I'm not too fond of them. But if there's one thing they did right, is how common and how they come together when it comes to the Palestinian matter. Defending or showing any kind of sympathy towards Israel in any way or form in the middle east (if you're a Muslim & Arab especially), it's not even tolerable nor accepted to the point it's totally publicly and widely accepted to use racial slurs to describe them as I mentioned. It's not like they generally just go outta their way to do that, but that's the approach people take here. The mere mention of the name is loathed in a lot of parts of the middle east, rightfully so at this point, after all the recent events.

Now if I may add, the case was never about just the Arabs standing in solidarity with Palestine. It's all about humanity and it's about d--- time this is gaining the media attention it needed to, because it has been going on for too d--- f---ing long.
Israel has to be stopped at any cost at this point and separated far away from Palestine, they have done more and more and more than enough and if nuking and wiping them all out of existence is the solution, then so be it. Them and anyone backing them behind and pushing that agenda and propaganda deserves no ounce of peace in this world. The damage has been done long and far enough to Palestine. This has to be stopped at any d--- cost.

Hate is never the answer. Neither is violence. I'm just too smart and aware to distinguish between right and wrong and just like how Alqaeda & Osama Bin Laden (and Isis too) deserved to perish for all the terror and harm it brought to this world, especially 9/11, just like how Saddam deserved his fate for all the terror he brought to this world. The case is similar with Israel. These criminals & terrorists gotta go.

Anyone who sympathizes with Israel at this point either is either clueless and ignorant of what's really going on and about this whole matter and or probably just hates Muslims and Arabs in general.
It's quite disgraceful and shameful to sympathize with them at this point. It really is. Palestinian lives matter.

I'm very well aware of the situation, from me having egyptian background. There were multiple wars between Arab states, including Egypt, and Israel, for example over the Sinai peninsula. I also wasn't disagreeing with anything you said in your last post. The thing that got you banned was bringing Hitler into this and saying what he did was right, which felt very out of place, considering you said something about solidarity and humanity 1 paragraph later. The only thing Hitler did was commiting genocide, which was a major factor that even led to the founding of Israel after WW2. That was the only real issue I had with your post, and I still think that was a very problematic statement you made. Idk how you got unbanned but thanks for atleast speaking out and trying to clarify your points. Never will I defend Israels actions and I too wish it would cease to exist.

Hey, monumental dumb c----, if the biggest war entity in the world with the largest war economy in the world stopped giving weapons to Israel they'd be heavily stunted in terms of killing innocents. First step kinda thing? Yeah if they get it somewhere else, it's more expensive for shitter equipment, so stunted further.

You may as well say "no point reforming or retraining police and taking their guns away, they'll still find a way to k--- innocents without them!"
