I think its fantastic that Cole is going back to his roots for this release. I grew up in Fayetteville the same time that he did (no I did not know him), so I root for him. I hope this album does well.

Have a very good feeling about this album. It seems like Cole's settled himself down, looked at himself in the mirror & seems comfortable with himself and this new music.

don't sleep man, T. Swift drops some of the meanest 16s.

On a more thread-related note, this was a pretty cool read: http://www.complex.com/covers/j-cole-interview-2014-cover-story/

I cannot wait for this, Cole is about to drop another classic. It will be interesting to see how much this album sells with no singles and not a whole lot of promotion.

Born Sinner didn't really age well for me but I'm looking forward to this!

Born Sinner is such a strange release for me. There are so many great tracks on there - but it doesn't play that well as an album.

I think this will be his best work since his mixtapes (excluding Revenge of the Dreamers)

    J. Cole is a really boring/corny artist at times (okay, well, MOST of the time), but the fact that he's releasing the album 3 weeks after its announcement, with no single or months worth of promotion is kinda cool. I didn't listen to Born Sinner but I might check this out, depending on the reception.

I understand a lot of complaints he gets, but I'm a big fan of J Cole. Any of his projects are "go to" in the car when I can't think of anything else to listen to. So this album coming out so soon is a pleasant surprise.

Weird that the record label would let him release an album this way. Maybe they are hoping its critically acclaimed and that no initial promotion will help its viralness?

I think guys like J. Cole and (especially) Kendrick Lamar have proved that the industry has changed with the digital era. When previously (as recent as 2011) labels would not release an album without a radio smash, both Cole and Kendrick proved you can do numbers without one. And then Beyoncé (albeit she was Beyoncé lol) dropped out of no where and sold 800k in her first 3 days. Jay-Z had that interesting release with MCHG as well.

I think the industry is doing a lot of learning in regards to how things sell now. If this works for Cole, I wouldn't be surprised if we see this format more often for major artists.

I just question whether or not Cole is big enough to do this successfully. Like you said, Beyonce and Jay-Z are worldwide superstars. Kendrick is one of the biggest trends in hip-hop today

I think I'm a little too close to it to really gauge since I own J. Cole Nation but the hype he generated by going ghost and then all of a sudden announcing an album due in 3 weeks was tremendous.

    I predict he'll sell over 200k.

No promotion with 13 songs, my kinda project. Really says a lot to me when an artist, particularly a rapper, puts 10 or so tracks on an album.

He's pretty much been a ghost for over a year now. I've heard some collabs but nothing special tbh. Really f---ing want that Kendrick collab album too. Anyone hear anything towards that? Hopefully that's what's next for both of them seeing as how Kendrick has an album coming out in 2015.

Have no idea what to expect with this. Cole surprised me with his last project so I'm looking forward to this. Any idea when it'll leak?
