    and btw one more thing about Deja Vu; anyone love that background Cole voice in chorus? d---, THIS IS SO GOOD but I can't tell exactly what he's singing, help me guys

    I said said one of the only. Only two wow moments on VIEWS are the U With Me beat switch/agressive tone switch and Weston Road flows around the Vince Carter line onwards. Thats it. Granted 4YEO doesn't have that many wow moments but its way more inspired and consistent thematically.

    And it's still not a great album despite that though.

    I'm not shi--ing on Cole or just making empty statements, I can write you a 500 word review in 20 minutes on why this is a 6.5/10 album despite it being the pinnacle of what J. Cole is capable of. Because this album is that easy to digest.

    Its hard for me to compare to 4YEO to Controlla. Completely different purposes but this Cole track is just on some different s--- to me, but to each his own. None of the reggae influenced tracks on VIEWS touching a ballad like Hold on We're Going home regardless. Drake did the singing tracks better on other albums too.

    Controlla one of the best crafted hits of 2016, that's what puts it over the top for me. Only a few artists in the world capable of making that joint. That's the sell on Drake, artists like Kendrick's attempt at hits are "King Kunta", and that's all good, but Drake has more range as a pop artist. He's already one of the greatest pop rappers of all time.

    No one but hardcore Cole fans are listening to the title track after this month the way I see it. It's beautifully written but just cause it's "deep" doesn't make a good """""""song"""""""". Cole is too one dimensional on this album to hit the rest of the check marks to put some of these joints over the top like he has in the past.

    Fair enough to each his own. Just because only hardcore fans listen to it doesn't make it any less good. I can assure you I'll be playing it past next month. We already had this discussion about the underground tracks that become the great ones (Dreams Money Can Buy, Club Paradise), so its not all about pop hits or what I'm gonna be playing at a party. I Gave You Power was never a hit but its still an incredible song. Him being one-dimensional is something I can't necessarily argue. Although I agree that's been his problem at times in his career, I don't think that's an issue here, but again to each his own.

    It is what it is. Foldin clothes kinda corny but still better than tracks like Pop Style to me.
