Immortal is dope to me, and one of the best tracks on the album. Neighbors is prolly a future skip track for me :idk:

Yeah I bought the physical but I havent listend. Physicals usually sound harder in my whip so maybe it will sound better to me. It's all good to me. It doesn't mean its still not a good project.

we shall agree to disagree on both fronts ...

    1. some of the best beats and greatest songs of all time are the ones made in 15 minutes, thats why neighbours sounds so organic to me i guess, you can tell it just came together effortlessly
    2. i guess i do understand what you're saying here, although what about a song like folding clothes then lol ... does it not sound out of place to u in that case?

@Bliss is lowkey right. Like Neighbors the more I hear it but it sounds kinda empty. Change also use a reversed sample but they built so well around that song with other s--- to make it sound fuller. Should have done a bit of the same with Neighbors but I get that the simplicity was what Cole was going for.

I think Cole put Folding Clothes there to lift the mood and the rhythm of the album. He spoke about it in the car with IB if I'm not mistaking. If you had a slower, darker song instead of Folding Clothes it could really change the tone of the last two songs. I think last track of the album sounds like a 4 minutes song because there we're not 4 songs of the some mood before it.

The only real criticism I'm narrowing down for this album is the bangers/mainstreams songs if you will.
Deja Vu, Neighbors, Immortal. One of these songs needed to blow me away and one I'm just chill and 2 I really like but they could be better. I feel like if you have ATO2C moment with one of these songs, the slower moments of this album are even better because of that contrast. But it is what it is. Still really like this album.

I like Change, because of the hook and the way they build the track up, but didnt feel it at all on first few listens. Still have to remind myself something is coming after that meh beginning. Didn't think I had that good of an ear.
@Bliss I'm coming for you :laff:

yeah i agree, folding clothes at least for the tempo if not the lyrics was definitely needed ... it is by far the most uptempo song ... but thats the thing is i think there should have been another uptempo song somewhere in the first half as well, somewhere between intro and she's mine part 1 ... would have made immortal and deja vu sound better because they are "bangers" but slow tempo bangers ...
... exactly like you are saying here, i agree 100% bro, we always on the same page

Also not even gonna lie, that second listen of the end of Change with the funeral cermony moved me heavy.

How he had the the depressed preacher centered, the mother (or other relative) crying panned to the right, and the n----- saying "I'mma k--- that n----- on the left" was powerful af. Literally the 3 sides of the funeral. One of the best moments on the album.

But yea Cole def needed immortal, neighbors, and foldin clothes to hit harder. Missed opportunities there imo. Album is 8/10 for me

100% that s--- really got me first listen ... that was the "climax" of the album to me that really had me feeling like Change was some next level s---, take out that and change is not as good if u ask me

especially since I'm 22 and thats the age they say it was like "d---" on that first listen it really hit home

lets be real this album is missing Caroline

i just seen this now ... that extra verse he added is f---ing crazy, doing that with a song like caroline on ur chance on national tv is extremely commendable, cole would be proud of that ...

    9/11 ... 11/9 ... d--- listen that s--- y'all, verse is fire, didn't know dude spit like that ... :lawd:

@2014 Forever Lives JCN could this album be also about Cole and this "James". Like they had the same upbringing in the Ville, but chose different paths, so songs like For Whom the Bell Tolls, Immortal, Ville Mentality is about "James" , Deja Vu and She's mine both parts could be about them both and Neighbors, Changes and Folding Clothes are about Cole with the finale bringing it all together.
I'm talking out my a---, but Cole had a similar song or verse where he's talking about him and this other guy growing up in the Ville, but choosing different paths and ending up differently. Had that songs in my mind while the album was playing (funny thing, can't remember the name of the song)
