his reviews are usually well thought out tho. Seems to have a lot of knowledge on music. Although the scores he gives are usually controversial, the way he actually reviews the album is dope.

i wouldn't say none tho, deja vu finally grew on me cause i plugged in the aux in the whip

when the "club jumping, don't stop" part of the hook comes in

oh my, the drums on that part :banderas:

but yeah thats about it lol, deja vu, immortal, neighbours ...

ville mentality is a good cruising song, change too, u could definitely cruise around listening to the title track ...

folding clothes finna be all over the radio :khaled:

na jokes but yeah besides that idk, jury's still out for me tho im reserving full judgement until i actually buy the album and bump that in the whip

This s--- happened to me on the last track on my 2nd listen of the album fam, I was ridding on the bus surrounded with a lot of people and all of the sudden someone started cutting some onions right before me b. I don't ever get that emotional over a track but this s--- was too much. Had to quickly recover and act like something fell into my eye

but yeah deja vu definitely grew on me a lot, although i still have some problems with it

second verse flow and lyrics wise is dope as well

I'm still not really feeling the flow for the first verse tho, doesn't really seem to match the beat fully

the twofold chorus is dope as h--- and like i said when the drums come in for the "club jumping don't stop" part that s--- crazy

im kind of over exchange already now, but still, i just realized that song is nominated for a grammy lol ... so cole has a beat on his album that is used for a song nominated for a grammy lmaoo ... besides that it kinda should be a bigger thing because if that beat really was stolen then a stolen beat is nominated for a grammy haha

Yeah, there are maybe some nitpicking things, like every album. But when I look at the album as a whole, it's incredible and very well made.

I think this is why I got emotional. When you listen aloud. it doesn't have the same effect.

I find it interesting how Cole as an individual found himself with FHD, and after the uplifting end you're thinking its even possible that Cole might move on to making "happy" music. But this has gotta to be the one of the most somber, depressing albums in recent memory, and for that reason, a lot of people won't like this. If not for Change, there is not a lot that is truly uplifting about this album, but thats what makes this album so powerful. I have a specific movie in mind and I don't want to spoil it for anyone but I remember going to watch that movie and it literally ends in disaster and despair. There's no uplifiting arc, to make you feel better, its just documenting the realities of life being so painful. And thats what this s--- is to me. Its a guy that has done so much for himself looking around and realizing his people are still suffering and in turn internalizing all that pain. I'm glad he did it though, because this s--- was more than neccessary.

This album is like the perfect contrast to 2014FHD. I'm glad this album doesn't sound like anything on FHD.

Eventhough I loved FHD, this is the album he needed to make.

It's interesting to me that he was able to get into this mindset. His life on the outside does not seem to be anywhere near this.

He just got married, possibly having a kid, making money and having his mother to share in that success.

    BUT

It could be he looking back on the situation at home. We often crucify artist for not being hungry and forgetting what it was like to be starving for success. Cole was album to do that at what could be argued the height of his career.

@2014 Forever Lives JCN remembered your "real n-----" theory and thought to add to it. The link I saw was the hook on Immortal "Real n----s don't die" with the similar message to Money Trees where people dealing drugs or whatever have to have this mentality that they're invincible or otherwise they won't survive in that environment. Also that when they do die, they'll be immortalized on t-shirts and in songs etc. Then he flips it upside down in 4yeo title track at the end when he said naw this is what a "real n-----" really is :hovcry:

true, i love how he's criticizing the whole cycle of violence that is in the black community like with the skit at the end of change "ima k--- these n----s" and also of course the title track "cause if not its gon corner you"

but i also feel that theme could still be tackled even more cause its really something which has to change ...of course kendrick also been trying to tackle it for two albums himself really (both gkmc and tpab) ... but its not something which changes over night (as cole is saying in change), or with just a couple albums because its a culture which has been created over decades ...

and thats why i have faith cole kendrick collab coming soon and that is a major theme which they will tackle even more and really try to influence some change, cause like i said a couple albums isn't enough when theres been thousands of rap albums glorifying the street life and being hard and getting money at all costs and just the constant killing for vengeance ... the cycle ... it has to stop
right, its like the theme of coles knock the hustle verses extended out ...

he has all this fame and fortune but feels he can't be happy cause he knows all the bad s--- still going on where he comes from (like survivors guilt)

everyone should go back to that track and listen to what cole is saying

right, "the one in front of the gun lives forever"

cole and kendrick really trying to change that mentality and i think the collab album will really take that to another level

I think it's survivors guilt but a burden he has to carrie as well.

I think that the best track to go back and listen to is 03' adolescence... but you right.

The beauty of this is a a faithful listener... there is so much content from previous songs that make it nostalgic.

Deja Vu could go back as far as Dreams on the warm up when he is trying to get the courage to talk to the girl he likes before killing her BF..
