another thing which i think will get lost in the post but its too crucial ...

in ville mentality i love how the “n----- play me never, give up my chain never” part comes right after the young girl talking ... not sure if u all caught that but its him saying the street mentality where you never “give up your pride” is basically equivalent to acting like a child ... its a childs mentality ... the way he delivers these lines makes that clear as well

Cole played guitar and bass (like we saw in the documentary) on the album. n----s can talk about his production all they want but its something to be said about an individual that masters his craft and expand his repertoire. Mad respect for Cole.

Prolly not, I had to use words confirmed classic. It's more like 8.5 for me. I love every song on this album except Ville Mentality, and Neighbors is decent. Best Cole album by a mile. And nope, I ain't changing my mind in a month or two.

Chargaux (that did strings for this album)

"There are some other [songs that got left off] that I feel like are amazing songs and I think they may consider them for another album or another release but I don’t want to give it away, but the things I’ve heard are definitely in the same vein as what are on the record and they just tell a different story. When that story is ready to be told, I think the songs will come out because they are great and the musicians that worked on them are incredible."

    Yeah there's another project coming.

Maybe. Maybe not. I think artist generally record a ton of songs when going through the album process. Cole probably got 100's of songs from The Sideline story up til now that we will never hear.

It's always a possibility they just extras. You right rappers always have a bunch of songs that get cut but her saying "I don't want to give anything away' means there's whole another project thats already in the plans. Elite gave the same vibes in his Complex interview. Plus, I still think its weird that the documentary was about all the songs that didn't make the album.

Fam is this collab album really coming?? Would be dope if Kendrick and Cole did a story-telling collab album highlighting their different paths - maybe they were just waiting until Cole released an album like 4YEO to drop it but they've been recording the s--- the whole time...

I just want the collab album with Kendrick. Cole can retire after that, I wouldn't care

wait so the story of cole having someone call him saying he thinks he's going to die soon and do this for his daughter is actually true ??

because thats what I'm contemplating about in my long a--- post here ...

if this situation might have actually happened to cole back in the day ...

    imagine ...

I know, just one interview. Even if it's a written interview. Just want to know more about the album from him.

imagine if cole actually got that call around the time he was 22 himself (because thats the age said in the change skit) ... he was in new york trying to make it as a rapper around that time i think ... and his friend back home who had a daughter but was living the street life actually called him saying he's having premonitions of his own death and to do this for his daughter ...

and then the dude actually died shortly after

but cole decided to save this story for when he had what he deemed a large enough platform to tell the story

no wonder the n----- would be depressed all those years when he wasn't using his platform ...

imagine having that s--- on ur shoulders all those years ...

maybe its actually true and explains lots of things :khaled:

Man this is the reason why I'm thinking the title track might be Night Rider. It seems like he's been saving this song for long, and it would make sense for him to say that this song is "too deep" to place on his first album. Maybe "Night Rider" is a term he used to describe the kinda guy his homie is, and the name he gave him.
