    s----s like 4th grade level writing. "Sometimes im mad as s---..."?? I completely get what he's conveying with this and appreciate he's shedding light on that side of the business, but that is horribly written. I really thought this was a common sentiment.

    To each his own. I don't see this as bad writing at all actually. Within the context of the verse it's simple and it gets the point across. If he rapped like this on every song sure but thats how n----s talk. Its straight out of a conversation you would have with your homies and Cole has always been that type of artist.

    I also don't understand why there's such a high bar for Cole in terms of complexity like he has to look in the thesaurus for each of his bars.

    Kendrick himself is the one that said

    "I know some rappers using big words to make their similes curve
    My simplest s--- be more pivotal    "

    Cole's got some huge misses like can't "outfart me" but he always got way too much criticism in terms of writing for things other rappers constantly get away with imo. Everything he spit on that funk flex freestyle was fire.

    I think it's a bar that cole set for himself by portraying himself as a storyteller, and a "lyricist". he's inconsistent imo, shows a lot of glimpses of brilliance and very well written music, but can barely live up to his own bar for the entirety of a project and in a lot of cases even songs. it's not unfair to judge him by his own standards. this is the complete opposite of the convo we had about thug.

    Missed most of the Kendrick vs Cole convo, but this was one of Kendrick's coldest lines IMO
