I think JB's image in the mainstream will leave him falling short of transcending JT, the music may be there but it depends if people are really listening or are still too fussed about the bieber tag

That's cool I respect your opinion. Justin Bieber is very talented but the difference between the JT and Timbo and Kanye and Common is that no offense to Be, a classic, but it just come across as Common rapping over some incredible soulful Ye beats. JT and Timbo created their own pocket. A completely different sound from anything at the time. If you notice also Timberlake has production credits on every single track on that album so I really think your downplaying his contribution to the creation of that sound. There's a reason Timbo can't get as high a level product with other artists.

Bieber is talented and may surpass him we'll see. But he's not shown me anything on that level of artistry. Timberlake is the total package. We'll see what bieber does. Regardless, purpose is dope. Happy for him.

Can't wait to listen to this JB album, hopefully he'll continue to follow in JT's brolic footsteps but FS/LS is one of the greatest pop albums ever recorded and hindsight has further propelled it as an incredible piece of music...although I might come back in here and think otherwise after my first listen :laff:

JB is LeBron of the pop industry (not skill-wise). He's been in the industry and in the spotlight from a very early age. In this day and age you can't fart without someone reporting it in some magazine, he made it thru the worse, he can only get better. IMO the "Baby" days are behind him. He matured and found a lane that works for him. I didn't think he could do that, I thought he would be another teen-star going wild, but he proved me wrong. Clap for him

word that transition must be the hardest thing to do in entertainment. I still think having thousands of girls crying just cos you're there when you're like 14 or 15 has a lasting impact and messes with your mental hugely. If he keeps it straight he's got a chance

When I think about those reporters and all the madness around the "stars" I'm grateful that I have a normal life.

@Lockness , I support almost anyone in the r&b world and dont think JB is anywhere JT's level, he is too young and this album doesnt prove anything yet. But let the kid have his 5 minutes.
Since you heard Young Thug (I'm not a fan), do you f--- with Travis Scott? I actually like him more than that Young Thug guy.

Remember when @Disclosure was the very few in JCN that talked about Bieber...yeah.:mynig2:

I always liked Bieber the person. Baby was cool to me when people HATED him. I just didn't f--- with the rest of his music cuz he wasn't my demographic. But for a few years, people keep telling me to listen to him. Like Journals. But I remember hearing All That Matters for the first time and :lol6: . I need to hear this before I hear the new album. Like I need to hear the Future mixtapes before I hear DS2.

It doesn't matter which way you go, Journals has more rap influence where as Purpose has more of an electronic and pop foundation.

Make sure you give both a spin tho

I remember at 2nd year on my college when this s--- came out I was walking around extra safe when this song was next on my playlist. Turned the volume half way down and s---, and by the end of the Bugatti Biebs verse said f--- it, and bumped it to the max and started simping to Drake's part. Wow, those times were incredible

@Dreamer Rodeo was the first Travis Scott project I messed with. Been in my gym/whip rotation. Said I might mess with more than DS2

It comes down to exposure I think - JB has been doing a lot of collabs with rappers that we all have in rotation, so we hear a sample of his work and are intrigued enough to check out more.

My go-to (male) R&B acts right now are Miguel, Bieber, and The Weeknd. Recommend me some artists that I may have overlooked.

His old s--- is still some of the best music I've ever heard. I'd take nostalgia,ULTRA over pretty much anything offered from the R&B genre in the last 5 years.

Yeah, Rodeo is nice, but it took me like a week or two to really get into it. I like Days Before Rodeo more than Rodeo.
I don't understand what is it with Future. I can listen to that kind of music sometimes., but Future isn't really doing it for me. I f--- with Commas, that Drake joint and maybe one other song and that's that.
