    Words can't describe the disappointment I felt when I read "J.Cole remixes A Tribe Called Quest classic" and found out he didn't even have a verse. :colerly:

    Nah. Haven't heard a thing from him since that song with Janet. You see Cole & Tribe Called Quest in the same sentence and all you get is a beat remix? Very doesn't do my disappointment justice.

    Was just watching this an Ebro is too on point for me. This is how I've felt since FHD dropped.

    Good Kid Maad City is better than any individual Cole project
    But if you take a whole catalog of songs from each artist and compare, Cole is right there with him and you could argue better imo:manny:

    i thought rosenberg brought up a good point with the quality of work argument though and I also think Kendrick reaches a broader audience. Its definitely a debate now though, its kinda funny how people feel like they cant mention one without the other.

    Yeah I didn't necessarily agree with that point. You can definitely say Kendrick is top 10 without bringing up Cole. They are different enough.

    I think Kendrick has had a greater cultural impact, but after TPAB, I don't feel he reaches a broader audience anymore.

    Cole going platinum and headlining arena tours and Kendrick just ain't been hot like that this year partly because he decided to make an album like TPAB.

    Imo TPAB is a properly executed born sinner. It won him great acclaim, and it was his therapy album. Born sinner was Coles therapy album, but it fell short in a lot of areas musically. Kendrick can easily "rebound" like Cole did on FHD by going back to what made him successful to begin with. It's too early in their careers to be throwing them amongst legends imo. Both are only 2-3 albums deep.

    Haven't been able to get into Tribe's music but I'ma listen to this 25th anniversary tape and hope it does the trick
