Became it was a live performance and the song itself was free, not sold on iTunes, so i don't think it could be nominated.

    Edit: I was right.
    "What are the eligibility requirements?
For the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards, albums must be released between Oct. 1, 2014 and Sept. 30, 2015. Recordings must be commercially released in general distribution in the United States, i.e. sales by label to a branch or recognized independent distributor, via the Internet, or mail order/retail sales for a nationally marketed product. Recordings must be available for sale from any date within the eligibility period through at least the date of the current year’s voting deadline (final ballot)."

I absolutely like Kendrick and I think GKMC is way better than any Cole album. So, what's the problem you might ask? Even though I will openly admit that Kendrick is way more lyrical, Cole's FNL has his legacy already set with me. That "What good is being the one when you're the only one who knows it" line always hits home.
With Cole not getting love from most of the music industry middlemen and critics, I fear that the response to a Kendrick collab might not be positive for him and with his previous depression issues he might be trapped again. I firmly believe one of the things that have always held back Cole is being surrounded by yes man and his lack of awareness.

If we were to compare Kendrick and Cole verses on every song they have been on, there is a clear pattern: most of Kendrick features with less popular acts are garbage, but for his albums and big artists he almost always brings it. On the other hand, post 2012 Cole almost always kills his features with irrelevants, but some of his album verses and most features with big artists are below average. This is my biggest fear, that Kendrick will outclass him so much and the verdict from the people won't be good for Cole. Why would other people's opinion matter? Because it certainly matters to Cole, you don't say all those lines he would say on his past projects about an unrivalled legacy without meaning it. And as we have witnessed before, an unhappy Cole is a crap Cole.
FHD was really a big step forward for Cole, the artist and I just don't wanna risk him losing his confidence again. Apologies for the long post

Good input, no need to apologize. What you're saying about Cole caring about outside opinions is true but that was before FHD back when he was trying to prove things to people that don't mattered. Once he realized his satisfaction was the only thing that mattered, that led him to create FHD, his most unrestricted project.

I think Cole has realized outside opinions doesn't matter because that's all they are OPINIONS. All he cares about is making the music he wants as evidenced by his recent interviews and even his recent track:

"My only adversary was my own mind, killed my ego now I'm snappin like its 09"

    Cole just entering his prime.

    "f--- your co-sign, that n----- can't f--- with Cole neither.
    Don't ask for a feature,
We bring a whole liter, of ether to eat you, we got heat for n----s.

    :jordan:

Hov was Cole's co-sign, but we all know the history there...
The ether line has obvious relevance...
    Idk...

Lol. Cole murdered him a few times, but it always makes it a better song imo, which is all that matters.

Cole doesn't take shots at anybody (IMO). Just be saying cliche s--- to rhyme sometimes. Kinda like he said "I was rapping about haters before n----s was hating me". I'm never speculating until he gives some actual details in a shot.

I wish there were more of yall (Cole fans) who can appreciate the greatness of TPAB. Idgaf about no awards but I def. think he deserves it. Album is d--- close to perfect to me. Lyrically and sonically
Nothing more influential than rap music
I merge jazz fusion with the trap music
I mix black soul with some rock and roll
They never box me in, I’m David Blaine-ing all you hoes

    True s---:king:

only complaints that i can agree with in regards to TPAB are the complaints about the album sonically. IMO, thats subjective, how something sounds to someone. Sonics are like 75% of an album, thats why theres mixed opinions on this album. But lyrically, this man wrote one of the most important pieces of art in a long a--- time. Literally every word on this album is calculated and relates to what hes trying to say to people.

yeah I was the same. it's a very dense/heavy album which is why I/a lot of us don't really feel to go back to it but when u do go through that journey, u realise how great a piece of work it really is
