I tore my acl and went on to earn an athletic scholarship
    [flex 2cupkerm]

And I feel like he deserves criticism. An acl isn't a death sentence and hasn't been for the last two decades. It's more that his mentality completely regressed initially and he seemed like he was being cautious to a fault. Now he definitely hasn't had any luck with all the other injuries that he's had since his first knee issue, but my understanding is that you can attribute a lot of that to athletes lack of preparation. I'm not a D-Rose hater, but he deserves some criticism. Like everything nowadays, that's going to lead to people vilifying him, but that comes with being deified and making mega millions.

Nah I'm not sure I have him top 5 the stats are all nice and everything and I respect him a lot as a player but you have to combine these stats with what he's been able to do with a team and that's where I feel like he's failed as a player.

The past three years, the clippers have been playoff contenders, and with all the talent he can never truly get it done. He's come up short numerous time along with his team never getting to the western conference finals.

Curry already has more MVPs and a ring, is about to get another MVP most likely and possibly another championship. Up until these past two years curry vs Paul wasn't even much of a debate imo. But currys trajectory to me already indicates he's on his way to have a better career than CP3.

@Kold @Bliss i aint really mad at either argument. if it's just career thus far, it's pretty easily CP3 (also Russ, who's been dominant for 6 seasons now). But when you add in peak performance and career going forward the case for Steph is strong

To be honest, CP3 never had A TEAM. Nobody who watches basketball seriously ever thought Clippers could win it all, let's be real about it. Won't even mention New Orleans. When you have one guy on the floor besides you who can actually make some defensive stops (DeAndre Jordan - last 2 years), you can't expect to win a championship, especially in tougher Western Conference. Defense wins championships, not offense. Warriors are top 3 defensive team in the league, and Steph is the weakest link in that defense. Only guy who can carry his team to the Finals is LeBron James and he happens to be top 5 player of all time, and the GOAT in many eyes. You can also make a case for CP3 should've been MVP 2009, when he, Wade and LeBron had some of the most memorable stats in league history. He been the best point guard since Deron Willams was still relevant and since I haven't shaved yet and that's a long a--- time, before Steph dethroned him last year. Let's see some consistency for about 7-8 years from Steph first before even putting him in the same sentence. But overall, CP3 is always gonna be the better overall player, and that's facts :idk:

@Lockness Westbrook is a lock for top 5 PG ever when it's all set and done, no discussion about it

I would never criticize Paul for his tenure in New Orleans. He had the near MVP season with them and never had the team for it. The fact that you give him excuses for the last two years with the Clipper says it all to me. The last time I checked he was on the team that choked away a 3-1 lead to a not that impressive Rockets team. Clippers had no excuses to not make the WCF last year and therefore, were in position to challenge for a title but him and his team couldn't get it done.

Again I'm not blaming him completely for his team failure, but when I analyze a players career, I take into account individual performance as well as team impact and team success. Again, I believe he's been a great PG for a long time and career wise, I wouldn't say steph has been better, but these past two years have been better than any 2 year span of Paul's career because he's had individual success that has lead to team success. It was only about individual performance Tracy McGrady would be higher on most people's list. Wilt might be the greatest of all time. But thats why MJ is the greatest to most because of the combination of team success and individual success, and thats why I think Steph will have a better career.

Plus, Stephen Curry is a generational talent. CP3 is not revolutionizing the game, Imo Steph is but only time will tell. Also, his defense is not great but he's not a liability anymore. I watch the most games and his quick hands make up for his lack of athleticism, He's a solid defender and makes up for most deficiencies with his impact on the offensive end.

To all my NBA GMs out here... Does Demar Derozan deserve the max in free agency this year? And what type of money does Batum deserve?

As a raptor fan, I'm sure @Mike Tyson can agree, there's no way demar a max contract player. He's in the 2nd tier of stars in the nba.

Max contract players should be able to win you a playoff series.

    Or even a playoff game.

Last year's playoffs was the most embarrassing thing I have ever witnessed as a Raptors fan. The Raps are good enough to have a good regular season against a weak Eastern conference, but when push comes to shove, this core isn't making any waves when it matters. I love DeRozan, but if he can get a max contract elsewhere, all the power to him.

Wiggins will be a Raptor one day, I hope :emoji_slight_frown: KD as well :emoji_slight_frown:

For sure. I'm just looking for viable options at the 3 & 5 for my Lakers in free agency. Worst case scenario, they're getting Brandon Ingram in the draft and he's got a chance to be good quickly, so I'm looking at like Derozan, Batum, Whiteside, Horford, and Drummond in free agency this year.

That's the most eloquent reasoning I've heard on the matter. I also think my perception of players is warped based off watching everyone play against the Lakers over the last three years, so I might think too highly of Derozan.

He's a d--- good player, I just think he's a step below the elites in the league and always will be.

Take it in, at one point the Raptors had a prime Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady d---

For sure. That's how I felt but wasn't sure because I'm reading that LA will target the tandem of Derozan and Batum if their plans with KD don't pan out.

Take it in, Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady come from the same blood. Their grandparents must have had some next level genetics. Probably dunking well into their 70s.

Max contracts aren't about what tier of star you are tho. It's about how much you're worth compared to your peers. I'm not a Demar fan but he's top 5 SG and the other 4 are all maxed out. I understand if you don't want the raptors to do it but they got to and they will

That's a good point. I was mostly asking because I was unsure wether or not to support the Lakers giving him max money.
