i don't hear the album of life anymore, this is not close to WAVES album at all.

it has great musical moments, but i won't ignore the shortcomings like some of the terrible bars like "bleached assholes". but from a production and arrangement standpoint this is his best work to date. moments like a song ending, and then you add a sample of wolves howling. and then that transitions into the GOAT exit of any album of all time (the frank ocean wind down).

i mean, it's still incredible. anyone who flat out hates this album prob listens to slaughterhouse like @ODB said. i can't be mad at anyone who says this is not their favourite kanye project of all time, but anyone who comes out and says this is trash will hold no weight as far as musical opinions go.

bro i'm telling you straight up what it is, what the f--- is up with them condescending "or maybe..." type responses?

if what you're saying is true, why the f--- i got versions of these songs without the chops? they were added afterwards. the exact same thing was done on my beautiful dark twisted fantasy. distortion was added on the entire album to give it an aged effect.

the 'or maybe' was because you called all of us "Dumb as f---", first off

Second, I'm not saying some of the tracks weren't in a finished state at some point, or that some of the abrasiveness of the album was intentional. I'm just saying that there were vocals and other points on the album that you could hear degradation in audio quality, but with everything that led up to this album with its release, its more likely that they didnt have time to iron out the creases and are now just gonna try to justify it as an artistic choice

i feel you, but you don't find even the "production and arrangements and song endings" although showing flashes of brilliance could be cleaner ? thats actually the secondary thing i was referring to as needing to be cleaned up (second after the lyrics)

like even that just doesn't feel true to kanye MBDTF and prior ... its so scatter brained, so much so it just doesn't bring about the same feels that it should ... like devil in a new dress guitar solo and stuff like that for example, just so clean and perfect ... whereas with the last 30 seconds of FSMH part 2 for example theres like 4 outro segments that play for like 10 seconds each and they just keep cutting, its just not smooth and for that reason doesn't have the same effect it should

like give me some examples of your favourite outros and production arrangement parts ?

but i definitely feel Highlights shoulda been the second song that wuda had a much better impact imo

that song just has a great uplifting feeling, it wuda been great coming right after ULB, wuda have set a great tone for the album being positive and then kind of being thrown a curveball later on before being redeemed at the end

Father Stretch shuda been good in that spot but it comes up short especially with each part only being 2 minutes long, its just too choppy that early in the album

and with highlights coming second that means "I Love Kanye" shudda been third

that freestyle is great and shudda been earlier to make a greater impact

and then after that wood came famous and u wuda been thrown for a lil loop, going from "i miss the old kanye" thinking he will be less controversial but then he just goes to saying "i made that b---- famous"

the scattered brain s--- is the genius of the project, he did it on yeezus with harsher sounds, but it's a lot better on this album because every sample and instrumentation is sonically pleasing. your mistake is that you're listening to this as a track by track album, when it's really a 39 minute musical. you gotta listen top down, there is no other way of hearing this. and the musical moments is what makes it great. some high lights:
    1. Kicking off act 2 with FSMH PT 2, and the interpolation of trap music, and then that ambient wind up at 1:09 or so in the track. and how they pick the pace right back up after that to lead into the actual outro with the synthetic voice. incredible.
    2. the BAM BAM interpolation by swizz beats in famous, goat. glad they kept the nina simone vocals too
    3. when he stops the conventional rapping, and starts rapping/slurring/talking about the "what if we f----- now", all the way to "baby don't get too lou-oud-OUd-oUd". dope vocal performance by him, i bet he was drunk off that.
    4. FML is incredible, i legit thought he took the weeknd off the song because of the extended intro verse. but my absolute favourite part about the song is the 2:49 mark with the drums that wind down in to the outro. his screams underneath the hook too, incredible.
    5. real friends is a 10/10 track for starters, but the outro which leads into wolves is one of the best moments on this project
    6. when the Wolves "ends" only to start back up with the wolves howling sample which leads into the outro
bro there are SOO MANY MOMENTS AND NUANCES with this album that i don't believe you've caught in these limited spins. believe me when i say this is a masterpiece from an arrangement perspective, and if you're listening to this as a conventional album, i don't think you'll be able to appreciate a lot of the details. this is an album only kanye could make.

all that said, theres moments where the album fails as well. it's not a perfect album, but it's better than some are giving it credit for.

@Lockness was more on point with that experimental DJ Khaled comment than I ever realized. Kanye is a great conductor like Steve Jobs was. He knows how to bring things and people together to create a final product. I have zero problems with the production and guest spots on the album. I think it's wild and disjointed but I believe it's his intent and it kind of works.

Where this doesn't even compare with old Ye is when it comes to the pen game. Ye needs to get himself a Quentin Miller because his bars and songwriting are literally trash these days. The only bright spots from a writing standpoint were the songs we already heard. He just doesn't sound inspired as a writer anymore and I have no idea what he's trying to get across the whole album even though I know it's meant to be abstract.

This isn't album of life but it's cool with some incredible moments but the worst parts of this album are Ye verses and that s--- is unforgivable. I don't wanna hear about cringe lines from Cole anymore cause Kanye took the cake with this s---.

yeah post it anywhere, they might give u backlash because i think those n----s all love it.

i haven't read that thread cause i don't wanna poison my opinion by reading the opinion of too many others, but last night everyone was calling a classic before kanye even rapped a single bar.

but the problem is i don't f--- with the order AT ALL like u just saw with my previous post

i feel there is no effort at seamless transitions whatsoever ... we'll see what you say/what u think when i post this tracklist i got going ...

but foreal i know we do this a lot with albums like change the tracklist ordering, like we did it a lot with CWTSS and born sinner/truly yours but i still listen to the albums the way they were released ...

BUT with this i will actually change the order and listen to it like this, thats how strongly i feel about the ordering being wrong

30 hours needs to be on the standard version imo, posting shortly

yeah, the ordering isn't perfect (it was on his WAVES arrangement, peep the tracklist he tweeted) but you can't say he gave it no thought.

every act is internally cohesive, and has a clear identity:

    ACT 1:
    1. ULB
    2. FSMH PT 1
    -------
    ACT 2:
    3. PT 2
    4. FAMOUS
    5. FEEDBACK
    6. LOW LIGHTS
    7. HIGHLIGHTS
    8. FREESTYLE 4
    -----
    INTERMISSION:
    9. I LOVE KANYE
    10. WAVES
    ----
    ACT 3:
    11. FML
    12. REAL FRIENDS
    13. WOLVES

    1. ULB
    2. Lowlights (bit shorter)/Highlights
    3. I Love Kanye (YES this needs to be here, this s--- is great, has a better impact early in the album ... and then u are in for shock when u think he misses the old kanye who was humble, he ...)
    4. Famous (after thinking u will get an old kanye, positive album u get "i made that b---- famous")
    5. FML (kanye decided to f--- his life up by bringing back up the taylor thing, this has to b at the beginning of album also)
    6. Freestyle 4 (although it shud have a different title and be a full song with a travis verse cause its a great song but too short)
    7. Father Stretch My Hands (middle of the album where it shud be, turning point, not opener, I'm telling y'all wud have better impact)
    8. Waves (coming after FSMH part 2, starts with kanye rapping like trap music)
    9. Fade (this needs to be in the meat of the album, shame its on the "bonus disc")
    10. Feedback (this has a better impact here too, just a little break before getting to the last emotional part of the album)
    11. 30 Hours (this too should b on regular, especially with "Feat Andre 3000" - actually a very good transition after feedback believe it or not, we get back to the emotional last 3 songs in a great way)
    12. Real Friends (please take away those ad-libs, they are unnecessary)
    13. Wolves (please back to go version with Vic and Sia + Frank outro to end album)

    Bonus:
1.NMPILA (not deserving to b on standard but a good bonus
if he wants can put Facts, All Day and Only One as well, but now it is more clear that these are bonuses

I just turned a 8 song cluster f--- into a clean concise certified 13 song classic, and all i did was change the order (and cut facts)

holy f--- how did i even do that

smh kanye really shud have thought through this tracklist cause it really cud been a classic like this
