@Mike Tyson Do you critique everyones music like you do Kanye? Looking for arrangements and all that other s---? I feel like if another artist were to make the music Kanye does people would disregard it. But since it's Kanye people consider it "art". I feel like Kanye always has the cop out of oh it's not bad it's art so you have to appreciate it

Yes I critique everyone's music in accordance with what they're trying to present.

I'm not looking at Nas to give me 5 different moments on his songs, but when Drake tries to switch up the mood like on 0-100, I do rate it as such.

I feel like that's what past success gets you. Immunity to not be overlooked after a quick glance. Same as in every other field. If Lebron's not putting up numbers, people are not gonna say he's just not good enough, they'll give a list of reasons why the numbers are not as expected. Not saying that's how Tyson's operating, just saying in general.

Since I gave TLOP couple of spins I might as well share a short opinion. Overall the project solid. Production is great, but that was expected. What I didn't like is that Ye loses focus so many time in terms of lyrics and even melodies. If he didn't rush the lyrics or songs, this project couple be on a whole different level with just more focus on lyrics and melodies. There are couple of amazing ones, but its 50:50 in the end. Better than Yeezus
@Mike Tyson does Wolves sound the same on that version you got as it is now? Frank's part sounds like it was recorded over Skype or some s--- like that.
Wolves could've been song of the year if it was done properly, those melodies are haunting.

I feel this is true for a lot of people. I know @Mike Tyson isnt operating this way because he actually knows music.

If you thought listening to TLOP was a journey...

Bumping it in conjunction to the last 20 pages brings it somewhere close to "album of the life".

I would be lying if I said I didn't give Drake, Cole, Weeknd, Kanye etc. a longer leash though, so that's a good point @ady. But I don't just give Kanye high scores because it's Kanye, or justify his work because it's "art" @Grandpa Simba . When I say his work is dope, it's because I've heard the album more than a handful times now and honestly believe it is.

But even for artists I stan, I'll call them out if they drop something bad. Drake is the number 1 artist I stan right now, but I can tell you that Thank Me Later was nothing more than an average debut, and If You're Reading This is an average, one tone compilation of some great, and some flawed tracks.

More criticisms of artists I follow closely, aka. my fav artists:
    • Late Registration, one of the most universally acclaimed albums in this genre, is a scattered track listing, and to me is his least compelling project as it's a refinement of his College Dropout sound (still a great album, but his second worst).
    • 50 Cent hasn't dropped a good album since The Massacre and never will again.
    • J. Cole has only dropped one good studio album and it has glaring flaws.
    • Kendrick is the best pure rapper alive, but To p---- A Butterfly was a try hard attempt praised by those who pride themselves in only listening to "real rap" and critics wanting to write a narrative, but people like me who are just in to the vibes were kind of left on the outside looking in. TPAB a good album, but it can never be better than GKMC, an album that finessed a narrative while still making songs like b---- Don't k--- My Vibe, which can be played in almost any situation.
    • JAY Z hasn't dropped a good album since 2007's American Gangster. The Blueprint 3 was an embarrassing attempt to connect with a pop market (and it worked), and MCHG was a business deal as much as it was an album. Overall, there was nothing special about it, and despite some good tracks, it was beneath an artist who is considered the best of all time.
    • The Weeknd has one of the most memorable and distinctive voices in the world, but aside from the Trilogy, he has never dropped a project that will have a lasting impact on the sub-genre like Miguel did with Kaleidoscope Dream or Jeremih did with Late Nights. He has been trying to grow out of that drugged out sound and make a transition in to pop music, and he less hits than he does misses.
    • Tory Lanez is dope for trying to grow out of the Toronto sound and do something different, but he has a long way to go. He's not as good as he thinks, and he's not as good as we think.
    • Bryson Tiller is dope, and honestly he might be better than Tory, but he's incapable of making anything that his favourite artist Drake didn't make 3 years ago.
Who else should I do? Nas is the only artist I don't have any gripes with, even though he doesn't have a perfect discography lol.

When I say I love Kanye's new album, I don't just say it because it's Kanye. There are flaws with TLOP but there is greatness in that album, almost enough to make up for any flaws.

    2 solid listens in

freestyle 4 is so bad, why is that on the album?
good album but all over the place
the album starts strong .. takes a deep dive then picks back up again
bars are struggling but he has some memorable ones
still mad he f----- up wolves (shouldn't of ever released the first one so I'd enjoy this one more)
