Alright here are my problems with FHD
    1. We didn't see Complicated Lyricism at all, BS was filled with intricately clever bars and great wordplay, FHD had plenty of catchy one liners but wasn't as heavy with the overall lyricism

    2. NO FEATURES, like s--- I get it you don't lean on anyone and Cole can obviously handle some bars on his own, but it's infinitely more exciting to have peers and greats on an album, look at MBDTF, there's that indescribable feeling of all those artists supporting what you do and contributing to the art that makes the whole thing much more enjoyable, it's kind of like talking to one person for 45 minutes compare to having a conversation with a bunch of guys, its just much more stimulating

    3. Third and my main problem, There's no easily identifiable central concept or atmosphere like there was with BS, it just feels like less of an album and more of just a collection of songs, and I don't appreciate that as much, I like listening to a complete body of work and FHD feels more like separate individual pieces (what do Wet Dreamz and GOMD have in common sonically)

That said, FHD is tied with BS for me at an 8.5, the songs were just to quality and there was just too much emotion and soul to make it any less

fair enough, but id say thats actually a big part of what made FHD better than Born Sinner to a lot of people ...

u see a lot of complaints bout the songs on born sinner all having a similar sound as being a negative thing, and u cant say that with FHD (when u have apparently contrasting with tale of 2 citiez or fire squad with 03 adolescence ... or pretty much anything, theres no two songs on here that sound the same)

Yeah... That comment kind of made no sense to me. Cole said himself that this album was a timeline of his life, so complaining about the different sounds is like complaining that cole changed as a person throughout his life...

Word its really just how I like to listen to albums, FHD has a lot more emotion in its overall delivery and I think thats why its more 'exciting' to most people than BS

Trouble with a hype Cole like Tale of 2 Citiez :wow5:

ye to me thats pretty huge that hes still selling 30k in wat the fifth week now ...
outselling rae sremmurd who had one huge hit and a decent follow up (even tho its not like i expected them to sell a whole lot) in his fifth week, thats not something to just discredit ... curious to see what joey badass and lupe push next week ...

if cole keeps it around 25-30 again for next week and then drops something on his bday like he shud imagine he gets it up to 50k again and outsells lupe and then will b well on his way to platinum :phewwwwW: :khaled:

but yo anyone else actually notice that the sales plus streaming s--- actually benefits pop artists way more than rappers ??? they did that s--- on purpose im telling yall ...

Not really, sonically, a great album should have at least a loose soundscape to be based around, there should obviously be variation but not to the point where the track could easily belong on another album (03 Adolescence, Wet Dreamz)

So you're saying the change in theme doesn't justify a change in sound? If the Hollywood cole songs sounded like the first few songs it wouldn't have given me the sort of impact of the stories he was telling, the sharp opposition in sounds is to me, necessary so that cole can tie it all up with the last batch of songs in which he goes back to the sound he started the album with, all of this was done to display cole "going back to his roots"

ye me personally i saw the fact that born sinner was so tight sonically as a positive, but i guess i can kinda see how some people dont like that

with FHD im gona have to disagree with you tho, i still see all the songs fitting together and complimenting each other well, its just that cole did a good enough job providing variety so that people cant make the same complaint they made with born sinner

so even tho i see where ur coming from i still think cole executed that part of FHD d--- near flawlessly (switching up the sound on each song but still having unifying sonic elements) ...

still crazy to think cole produced the majority of these three albums that are all so different and hes still not getting enough credit for it

but this is once again an argument based in subjectivity ...

i personally have no problems with the songs on FHD not all fitting together (i believe they do all fit, thematically and sonically) ...

to me the contrast of the first half of born sinner being dark and the second half being light is very apparent but others dont see it and just see the album as a flatline

FHD i see more as a rollercoaster where its not just first half this, second half that ... but instead there is variations from each song to the next ...

so like i say, this just further proves the subjectivity of music

I understand the first two but not the last problem tbh. Crooked smile and villuminati have nothin in common sonically or subject matter wise. Neither do ain't that some s--- or land of the snakes but they are all on the same album. There's definitely a concrete concept throughout the album that was evident when we broke down the album on JCN and this one is a more complete journey than BS (second half kinda dragged).

Apparently already has more views than the She Knows video :khaled:

but man i really hope we get a lot of videos for this album

he put so much creativity in the born sinner videos hopefully he didnt give up on that cause theres so many songs on here that deserve it ...

03 adolescence, and tale of 2 citiez specifically, the imagery would b too real with the words ... n those songs are back to back so maybe even make that the basis of a lil short film ...

but i really do think he should finally execute his plan of a short film with this s--- ... i wana see him do sumin special for this album so bad, it f---ing deserves it ... like i said before hopefully we get a "making of" video for a lot of the music too (like why the h--- not do that - i sure hope they recorded some of the process) ... but ima give him til the end of january to do something before i start getting upset like yall ...

when i dont post on here i dont even care but then when i start posting and thinking bout s--- i get heated lol :stephena:

yeah BS was one of the most cohesive projects I've heard and there's a pretty clear difference sonically between first half and second half (and even between songs) but I can see how FHD is more likeable and doing better in the mainstream, it doesn't sound as heavy. I wanna do a comparison review between BS and FHD sooner or later (blasphemy to some).
