You're gonna be surprised by his next album. Definitely won't be sticking to the script this next one. And sampling doesn't mean it's gonna be the regular soul influenced s--- he does. He's inviting outside production more and more.

EDIT: Not saying it'll be completely different on some Ye s--- but you can see the shift from certain songs in FHD.

that's true. def duds on those albums but just fewer of them. helps that NWTS tracklist was short. And I just like the verses on IYR for the most part, prob cuz it wasn't different from the way I heard him spit before.

That's some solid speculation.

He usually approaches songs from a traditional hip hop standpoint. I think we all agree that Cole just has to work with a variety of producers. He could run away with the crown if he sticks to his writing approach and expands his sound. Organized Noize would help immensely

What I meant is that he wouldn't consider doing something over a beat like Controlla or untitled 07. And I actually think he would k--- both, especially something like Controlla. I need a half-singing record from him that isn't socially aware or on some emo s---. He is more than capable of that, think it would be huge. Hope I'm wrong tho, but I just can't see him straying away from his trademark soulful, jazzy sound for the most part (with some exceptions like Tale of 2 Citiez).

Edit: Not saying that I don't want that sound from him, just would want some experimenting and having fun on a few tracks.

untitled 07 ain't that far left to me. Dope af but just a typical b-----r like tale of 2 Citiez. he wouldn't do a controlla because his take on reggae wouldn't be a dancehall probably. As much as Cole can't do controlla, drake can't do a Note 2 self, 03 adolescence etc. so it goes both ways. I'm just saying he's gonna go a little left on this in his own way. What that is I don't know exactly I'm not expecting something drastic but definitely different.

I think an advantage Cole and Kendrick have over Drake too is their ability to speak for/from the perspective of other people. I think Drakes speaks for people by speaking about himself but the fact that is always first-person limits the scope of his approaches to writing. I think that allows Kendrick and Cole to come up with dope song concepts that are not immediate to their experience. I wouldn't say that makes their music better but it just adds another weapon/tool that's at their disposal to make more creative songs.
