    I love how we all know J Cole drinks but you've never really seen footage of him either with bottles/at a club with b------s/getting f----- up. I think that video is literally the 2nd "drinking related" thing I've seen from him his whole career. Doesn't really praise alcohol either even though it does get mentioned here and there. Although I drink I think it somehow encourages one not to get too carried away with that whole getting f----- up lifestyle. Like you can enjoy it but at the same time no make it an overly frequent thing. Maybe it's just me I dunno.


    Ps. I'm still team f--- J Cole though

    I have seen a lot of artists submitting free music, it just doesn't get nominated because it doesn't receive enough votes.

    Other artists/musicians votes for what should be nominated.

    Nah a nominee has to have released the music commercially in some way for it to be considered

    "commercially released in general distribution in the United States, i.e. sales by label to a branch or recognized independent distributor, via the Internet, or mail order/retail sales for a nationally marketed product. Recordings must be available for sale from any date within the eligibility period through at least the date of the current year’s voting deadline (final ballot)."

    Well not necessarily, it takes money to put stuff on iTunes and involves getting aggregators and whatnot, the whole process is pretty complicated. But the big deal is with today's music culture, people don't need to put their s--- up for sale on iTunes or in record shops for them to get hugely popular (Chance has been on SNL twice without selling a single piece of his own music), so a lot of great music is going unrecognized because of the commercial availability rule.

    It would be too complicated to allow free music at the grammys.

    Most of the time, free music = mixtape = a rapper rapping over other people's beats, or someone remixing songs.
    This would open the doors for all the lazy cats

    Sampling issues would be a problem, you're right about that. But I really think it'd be worth it to include all the music thats being overlooked now. People would still be choosing nominees carefully, so its not like it would just let more bad music into the noms, it would just broaden the range of choices.

    Also to answer your question, Acid Rap was actually put up on iTunes for a small amount of time but that was unofficial and was quickly taken down.
