pablo is a moving art piece, haphazard by design. the most intimate look at the creative process by an artist widely considered the best in the genre.

4yeo is formulaic and a cheap imitation based on precedent set by far more capable artists.

cole is not capable of creating an album or a project which touches kanye's low (which is pablo). to suggest that he is is very reckless.

kanye is not a good writer, he never has been. but pablo (and the music that came from the pablo sessions) has some of the most personal writing of career.
FML, a look in to his depression.
wolves, his expression for what his family means to him
real friends, a look at the isolation his stardom resulted in
only one, a song that she's mine pt 2 wishes it was
pt 2, coming to terms and understanding the resentment he once had for his own father

there is no way 4yeo is a better album than pablo. whether you still listen to that joint or not isn't really relevant. i don't listen to pablo hardly myself anymore. but it's still one of the 5 best projects that came out this year.

Yea this is better than 4yeo but not by a lot. First 4 tracks classic. From feedback to freestyle 4 is a pretty whack stretch imo. Waves SOTY. Real friends still tight and i still don't like the verse on wolves. 30 hours and fade and nmpila shoulda been in the feedback-freestyle 4 slots imo. 4yeo and TLOP aren't in my top 5 tho. Blonde, Jeffery, still Brazy, Malibu and coloring book better than both. As much as Cole and others say kanye has an ego, the dude literally let ppl work all over this album. That's dope. Cole should prolly learn from that. Real friends goes from a 8/10 to a 12/10 from that ty dolla ft. I f--- with how TLOP essentially just a playlist when he easily coulda cut a buncha tracks and made a classic. Smh u gonna get me to start hating on Cole again bra. Lemme enjoy. 4yeo classic.

but @Lebron187 i agree that pablo loses you because of how haphazard it is

that's one reason i rank it at the bottom of his discog even tho it's an 8/10 album

one day yeezus will click with u brada, i dont know when but maybe just watch the kanye x zane lowe interview and then listen to yeezus again when you get time.

    it's a masterpiece

kanye is the most inarticulate guy in rap, and his ego makes it works because he can't shut the f--- up, hence his rants. but he somehow articulated his frustration with the fashion industry and his feelings of being "marginalized" perfectly in a 10 track album. it's top 2 with MBDTF for him.

@BigCountry can shine more perspective on what makes the album great than i can

my opinion is just my opinion, but as someone who has had each kanye album except pablo in rotation for at least 12 months my ranking goes:

    1. mbdtf
    2. yeezus
    3. 808s and heartbreaks
    4. college dropout
    5. late registration
    6. graduation
    7. pablo

    all albums 8/10+

    1. Yeezus
    2. MBDTF
    3. College Dropout
    4. 808s & Heartbreak
    5. Graduation
    6. The Life of Pablo
    7. Late Registration

Last three change places routinely. I think they're clearly his weakest three but are still great albums.

Late Registration has Kanye's best song of all time (Gone) but it aged so weirdly for me. It was my favorite for a long time but it just does not play that well front-to-back.

no, i used to feel like it was a more mature college dropout, but time was better to CD than it was LR

graduation, pablo, and LR are the ones i dont know how to rank. depends on the day i guess.

grad his most shallow album, but also his pop-rap breakout. really fk--- good album tho
pablo his 2nd most personal album, but also scatterbrain and haphazard. really fk--- good album tho

LR i gotta go back to tho

@Mike Tyson @Lebron187 OK what I wrote was a lot shorter than I remember but the topic title was "What is so amazing about Yeezus?":

"It's simultaneously disjointed and cohesive and there's a strong sense of urgency. It pulls you through this trip of aggression and anger and pride and loss and hopelessness until Kanye somehow ends up in love on “Bound 2.” I love it. It might be my favorite album of all time.

kk thats legit tho, this post about as long as yeezus run time :laff:

but thats a pretty legit way of describing it.

i feel like the harshness of the first 4 tracks f---s it up for a lot of people.

man on sight such an amazing piece of work, how he went from frustrated sounds and morphed it in to an actual beat is f---ing gorgeous.

what a producer, daft punk legends for that jawn

For some reason in my head I always have the album divided up like:

    Act I:
    On Sight
    Black Skinhead
    I Am A God
    New Slaves

    Act II:
    Hold My Liquor
    I'm in It
    Blood on the Leaves

    Act III:
    Guilt Trip
    Send it Up
    Bound 2
