I don’t think album is undershipped, its just cos Best Buy stopped selling new CD’s so Target and Fye are the only major retailer’s left where you can get the album from

I got this as a 9. My only real complaint is I wish he had another verse to motivate the k--- Edward stuff grew on me quite a bit as I listened more

It has the strong lyrics and messages that 4yeo had but with beats and tempo like FHD. Kevin's heart to the end of the album is the strongest stretch of songs he's had since his mixtapes

I would love to find out which songs he made in that two week span he said it was about 6. If it was the second half of the album he's a legend

I think Cole should perform FRIENDS on Fallon or SNL purely for the message is the whole and his solution. And his aggression should give chills on his verse on the song similar to his Be Free verse on Letterman

I read on Twitter how "Kevin's heart" isn't named after Kevin Hart due to the cheating stuff but cause he starred in Think Like A Man, which is what the song really is about. That's crazy if true

It took me a few spins to get used to the Photograph hook and k--- Edward features. Photograph hook has a borderline eerie vibe...it’s fitting...and the verses are dope and actually catchy.

k--- Edward features were stuck in my head earlier today. It definitely would’ve been amazing with Miguel singing, but it still works how it is now. The almost demonic way the voice comes off is fitting for the theme. It is way better than Cole singing the Power Trip hook by himself.

And I wish verse 2 of Motivate was longer. That’s all

It works for me too. I totally understand the perspective of wanting some hook singers to kind of break it up but I think it works better, conceptually, for him to do all the vocals. All the different cadences, modulations kind of mimick the mania of addiction or depression. The super highs and the depths of the lows are all shown both through the actual words themselves but with tone and cadence. I thought 4YEO was a big step forward in the “show don’t tell” department with how the instrumentation and vibe added to the overall narrative. This is another massive leap. The man is in total control right now when it comes to the craft of making songs. It’s pretty cool to see.

Kendrick did the same thing with all the characters he did on TPAB - which incidentally also got criticism for the same thing. Not all music should achieve the same thing; it’s cool to have albums like this to have in your collection.

It’s just not going to happen. The reviews are going to come out tomorrow and it’s going to be the same thing it always is. It feels like Cole and the squad have moved on from caring about that kind of validation. It’s time for us stans to do the same lol. 6.5 on pitchfork confirmed but still a classic for me. Who gives a f---? Lol

100% agree but I think with the subject matter and probably a massive first week that if any Cole album was going to be successful in terms of awards it would be this one
