ye like @King Simba said ... gonna have to disagree with that born sinner statement wholeheartedly ... born sinner was still very good for his career, going up against kanye n all that ...

lets just put it like this ... if he did what he did on fhd (the release method) right after cw:tss theres no way he wuda sold wat he did ... so i think thats proof enough born sinner helped in advancing his career ...

and musically its what allowed him to strive to make a better album with FHD, so i think it happened for a reason there too

besides, even tho a lot of y'all hate on born sinner and see it as a failure theres still a whole lot of people that love it

great way to put it ... "normal" hip hop fan: not overly obsessed with hits/bangers/trap music/just trying to act cool but also not a crazy hiphop head who only respects complex lyricism and wordplay

That's Cole's pocket right there, in the meaty part of the curve, thats why he's got the potential to reach such a wide audience ... while the two things i just mentioned would only be the two ends of the spectrum and not as highly populated as the middle

I still like the track and don't get many of yalls hate on coles verse, but truth is the song is not the same without the horns in the version chance previewed when he performed it This n----- chance has a trademark on horns or some s--- ... btw where surf at wasn't it supposed to drop before the end of 2014 ?

Cole gets the speech from dude in 03 adolescence at the beginning of the movie but then still ends up going out one night with his friends (like in tale of 2 cities) and they meet someone to buy some weed but decide to steal it instead of paying like in to2c ... obviously they don't have the intention to k--- the guy but he pulls a gun too so it goes awry and one of his homies ends up shooting the dude they doing the d--- deal with ...

and guess what, it turns out to be coles boy who gave him the speech in 03 adolescence

cole shattered but then that makes him stops f---ing around and he goes to college and meets IB the gawd

that probably makes cole look too g tho when thats not even his thing lol, o well like i said thats hollywood haha they would probably need some s--- like that if they were to put out another movie with a rapper

but thats just one idea that pops into my head

edit - s--- plot thickens and maybe even after all that happens ... cole starts hanging out with a better crowd AND EVEN STILL one of his smart friends with a bright future who not a thug gets killed by a stray when they just chilling on the block ... (this would obviously be inspired by "the good son part 1") ... so this is really the end of the line for him and makes him want to get out of the city and then he goes to college ... and meets IB the gawd in case u forgot

edit 2 - and towards the end of the movie after he's made it as a rapper and is famous you can throw in my song idea from a while back where cole has a dream where no one in the ville remembers him/knows the famous him ... so then he wakes up from the dream and this is the point where he decides to go back home and make FHD

... no doubt i would go see that movie and it would b a classic if i do say so myself:
