When I joined JCN, I had already been visiting the site for like a year and a half. For some reason, I felt like I knew yall. Yall didnt feel like complete strangers so I was like whatever, ill put my photo up of myself. (I had never been apart of another forum btw)

I honestly thought that maybe like one person would ask "is that you in your avy?" Or something. End of discussion. (Naive I know)

I know I got myself in this mess. I know its all "fun and games" but the pic isnt there anymore so can we stop talking about it?

Truuuue. I enjoy that too, but I want to be able to just kick back and ride the album out sometimes. That's why I say Cole & Joey dropped all purpose albums. They're just as insightful, but their appeal doesn't stop there. I just wish Lupe wouldn't sacrifice so much creatively. He should stop boxing himself in. If he could learn to find a better balance his legacy would benefit.

T&Y is great, but I feel like it has way more filler than FHD. He has the same issue that Cole has with being stubborn. Lupe needs to start reviewing his albums in depth and realize what's necessary and what's not. Step back, ignore your writer's bias and really ask if what I'm saying is adding to the record. If it serves no significant purpose, cut it. I mean, all rappers stunt on records and Lupe's form of stunting is flexing his knowledge, but it comes off as pretentious at times. It doesn't feel like he's trying to truly educate, just remind people of his intelligence.

I honestly feel like you could learn more from Cole's album than Lupe's. I feel like it inspires growth and forces you to question yourself. That can only lead to an increase in knowledge. Lupe might plant the seed and expose you to those subjects you mentioned, but he isn't really spreading knowledge on them. He's just referencing them for the sake of a punchline half the time. Cole's had that problem before as well, but I don't think it was an issue on FHD.

Cadillactica, FHD, B4Da$$ and T&Y have been on heavy rotation on my side. I enjoy the fact that each one has a central theme to it; different perspectives, sounds and presentation. Big Krit's album blows them all away on the production side, Lupe's has that complexity that is fascinating, Cole's album hits close to home like most of his music and lastly Joey's has that old school sound that I'm always drawn to...I'll get into it more but I'll rank them like this T&Y>Cadillactica>FHD=B4Da$$.

Still haven't given KRIT's album a listen. Did it live up to the hype? I haven't really given his music a genuine listen. I always see him in everyone's top 5 of new school rappers though.

J Cole for me lacks classic songs. Lupe's for me has alot of classic tracks.

Prisoner 1&2 will be one of the best songs of 2015.

That's why both albums are good for different moods & contexts. Unfortunately Lupe god himself in this situation with his label. I feel as if he had a lot of control over this album but the label said f--- promoting it. He would be amongst the greats if he was just a consistent artist. He's an artist that will be on the incline, decline, flatline & vice versa. There's not one steady movement with him.

Don't get me wrong, I love Cole's album. Cole raps about topics that Lupe wouldn't be able to articulate because Cole has a way of delivery his words well & in a clever manner. Apparently has made it into my Cole top 5. You can get more emotion in that track than anything on Lupe's album.

In context to punchlines, Cole can never articulate punchlines as good as Lupe. But like I said, Lupe does it in an artistic form & makes you rap genius that s--- which is something I like doing.

The best way to put it imo is Lupe's album is more thought provoking however with Cole's you gain more emotion.

He might be a bit too country at times but that never bothered me, he has a ton of material that is introspective and is a talented producer. Try his mixtapes if you aren't feeling the album.
